tire keeps going flat

Happened to me so many times I was at the tire shop more than I was on the tractor.

Worst one was on a new set of tires and they went flat in an hour back on the job.

Besides the money to fix the flats it was the down time driving to the repair place, waiting and driving back, there went the day.

Finally I sold the tractor and got a track skid steer. No more flats, and with the sand I deal with even the 4WD kept getting stuck, solved that problem also with the tracks.

This past Spring I had a flat on one of the front tires to my backhoe on a Sunday morning. It ruined the day, plus the day to drop it off and another day to go get it. Two weeks later, on a Sunday morning it went flat on me again. This time was the last time. I had both front tires filled with foam. Cost was just over $500.

Over the summer, my front tire to my small tractor has been leeking air. I started out sliming them when this happened, but Slime has it's limits and it's only good for so long. After a year or two, it's pretty much worthless. New Slime doesn't seem to have any affect on a tire that has already been Slimed. Tubes are the only answer short of a new tire.

Six years of flat tires and 400 hours was the limit. I bought two new tires and had them filled with foam. Coast was $550, and it took just over a week.

Since then, no flats!!!!!!! It's just a nice feeling to be able to start the tractor and go do something without having to deal with filling it up with air, or having it go flat while out mowing.

I don't like to spend money foolishly and foam filling tires is not inexpensive... but, it is worth the peace of mind knowing I won't be dealing with flats anymore... problem solved!

Since this appears to be such a common problem, it would be nice if Kubota addressed these issues.

just wanted to add my 2 cents. I had a slow leak on my rears. I decided to get it fixed so I worked on it and found it was from the tire stem. I found that it wasn't due to dry rot or anything, but rather a poor construction of valve rubber and core put together. After I put in a new one, problem solved. This year is a bad year for tires for me. I had two tire stems go bad on rear of BX, had blow out on 16ft trailer while towing wood due to low air (it was fine when I left), a flat tire on same side of 16ft trailer but different tire due to dryrot of tire stem, and blowout on 22' camper tire due to low air (it was fine when I left camp) . I got a funny feeling, even though I checked the pressure in all tires before trip, it must be a dryrot on stems causing all of these issues. :( This coming spring, all tire stems is gonna be replaced as cheap insurance on all of my trailers.

Certainly it should be part of figureing out the slow leaks for tractor tires as well. Its only few bucks for a package of 2 right ? cheaper then slime ?

Agree these should be checked, but mine were replaced and the tire repair center could not get the tire to hold air, so thet put a tube in. I don't like tubed tires; too hard to fix in the field. Fortunately I have an excellent dealer.

Had same problem with my front tires until I dismounted and cleaned bead areas on tires and rims then removed cleaned and replaced valve stems. Pumped tires to 45 to 50 psi when using FEL and 30psi when just mowing. No more flat tires due to leaking beads and stems. :)

rear left tire almost went flat after having the dealer fill it with antifreeze/water...I was thinking that the dealer may have messed something up since I've never had a problem with the rear tires going low. it appears that air was coming through the valve stem. made minor adjustment to it and pumped it back...not a problem in 2 weeks now...

Just had a flat on my RTV. Took it off, inflated it, dumped tire into horse trough. Air leaking around the valve stem by the rim. Could wiggle it and change the rate of air escaping. Checked the other 3 and 2 of them were leaking slowly at the same place.

Took to tire shop and had them replaced.
