its not that I need to know where it's located,:D but why mine is not center of the hole in the hood? is there anyone else with ym fuel cap located this way? everything looks like its bolted where it should be from underneath, the gas tank cannot be moved back anymore then it is, it is already against the console, I thought maybe the hood had been racked by this amount? but I see know sign of anything out of alignment at the hood hinge points. I wouldn't really worry about it although the problem is I have to open the hood to get the fuel cap off because the hole in the hood is right against the cap so i cannot turn it, I have only used up 1 tank of fuel and had to fill it 1 time, so again not a real big deal but am curious why it would be this way?
any Idea Folks?

The whole hood needs to be slid forward. The tank is fine

Mine's similar, not restricting turning the cap but almost. And the rubber hood latches are mis-aligned by the same amount.

The nose has some minor dings probably caused by suspending something heavy from the loader then driving around. I assumed that shifted the hood back. I think this tractor (my YM240) is all original so I don't suspect mismatched parts.

Yes this is what I thought at first, i actually took the hood fender ect, off the tractor to paint them, and when I went back to reinstall the hood I set it up about center the fuel cap but the mounting holes/hinges would not align up, so I push it back to where it would bolt up, ..................................

and yes California the rubber hood holdowns are way off as well on mine. the way I am thinking is it would have had to taken a hard impact to bend the frame tabs that the hood bolts to, and in order to bend these the hood would have been totaled, but not a scratch or dent on the hood,
and with this other picture you can see how tight the hood closes against the cap,

I'm not sure what is going on. The fan clears the radiator by the normal amount.

I thought about fastening the hood hinges to a sheet of 1/8 plate that is bolted down to the original bolt holes, to shift the hood forward. But then I noticed that moving it forward would prevent tilting the hood open far enough to reach its balance point before the grille hits the added crossmember that is part of the loader frame. As it is now, the hood stays tilted forward on level ground, but is iffy if I open it on uneven ground.

See my avatar to the left of this text? That front crossmember is visible. And the ding in the middle of it is where I chained it to the loader to tug it forward a little more, so that the hood would stay open reliably when the grille is resting against that crossmember.

Deep my gas cap is in the identical place also but my latches are aligned properly. My guess was so that the hood doesn't catch the cap when opening it. I did notice after I bought it that there was no sign of it having a loader on it.That would be a good possiblity on the latches CAL.

my latches line up and the cap is in the middle, but in saying this does anyone have a problem with the bonnet squashing the injector return line that goes into the filler neck?

DND, my hood has the cap perfectly centered (2000) and i beleive my latches are lined up but maybe so slightly moved foward?

Neat, my hood does not crush return line.

I'm not sure what might have happen over the past 30 years, perhaps this is not the correct hood? maybe is from the next size larger YM? I'v heard these gray's get pc together, does anyone know if the 1700 and the 2000 have interchangable sheet metal? Hood ,fenders etc, although when I repaint the tractors hood I remove all the old faded decals that read 1700 and they look to be factory installed,
