call it a 1g flush.. just think of all the crud that whooshed out with that 1 gallon of oil as it had been knocke dto the bottom during filling up. You probbaly got a lil 'good' out of dumping that 1g of oil :)

While 1 Gal down on Hyd is not good, i don't think you damaged anything and those noises you are hearing is just you being overly cautious. The Hyd system worked, as you used the tractor. So that means nothing was left exposed (dry pump). If you had drained too much the Hyd system would only partially or completely not work and, well, that would be ugly.

Only thing I can think of is a bit of a heat issue (oil does not cool as well as there is less) but that would be a big stretch.

I sure hope I damaged nothing or set myself up for future damage. When I realized what I had done, I did have the sense to not start engine or run hydro until I replaced the the drained fluid. Dip stick is up to level now. I followed service guy 's phone instructions for bleeding hydro ( Cycling fel, 3ph, and turn steering wheel back and forth ). Drove it around a bit. Checked fluid again. Parked over night with card board under machine to check for leak drips. None found. I still wonder exactly what device it was that I drained from. Looks like some sort of front transmission case for 4 x 4 drive. Service guy kinda indicated that the rear and front are connect by a hydro fluid tube and when I drained the front it took fluid from the back. Sound correct ? My big worry is I haven 't taken care of the problem correctly and that repeated use might burn something up. I 'm toying with the idea of slightly loosening the wrong plug again to see if new fluid does come out. That would indicate that what ever I drained is filled again. I added 3 gal originally and what ever I drained eventually trickled and stop. I had to add 1 gal to get back up to full so that would mean that what ever I drained, held 1 gal of fluid. Thoughts ?

Bought my first tractor today. I've run backhoes for years, but can already tell that the clutch is going to take some getting used to. I've already put a hole in the front cowl lifting an implement off the trailer.

Welcome to the board :)

Some of us were lucky enough to learn to drive on a car with a manual transmission.

Interesting thread. Don't pull away from the dock w/out setting the brake. Believe it or not, only thing damaged was a $20 bracket.

You're a true blood TBNer to stop and snap a photo in a situation like that.

Trying to turn a skid-steer around on a trailer before unloading, it got away and nose dived into the dirt. Was hung up on the trailer by the tires on the rear and by the bucket in front.
