Has anyone come up with a good solution for the crappy, plastic, non castered rear mower wheels?? My brush mower with the Caroni caster wheel kit worked great...after I installed a smaller, solid rubber caster tire. :D

what was wrong with the pneumatic tires that you installed initially?

I had a clearance problem. The larger pneumatic tires would sometimes hit and rub the PT front tires. When I installed the Caroni kit I had to move the mower attachment plate bracket back 5" to extend the mower further from the PT for clearance.

Hey I'm bumping this to the top again. It's been a long time since anyone has posted pictures of any custom PT attachments or improvements. Winter is coming and I love to see the creativity flowing :)

In relation to the title of this post I am working on making a useful tool out of this for my PT 422. Somewhat of a challenge but I gave a song for it and have use for its lifting height. 14 ft and 4000 lbs at the forks. Granted I wont lift the full weight but I want the height for a man lift.

Interesting with great potential. I'd be a bit concerned about counterbalance though, especially with a PT. How do you PT guys deal with adding ballast given the lack of 3pt attachments and small wheels (not worth loading I'd guess)?

The safe lifting capacity on the Power-Trac's is figured from the side loads on the wheel motors, the size of the cylinders, the angle they are mounted, and the distance the load is from the pivot point. Any more weight than that is called the pucker factor.

Although we could add extra weight to the rear, and therefore lift a greater weight than advertised, it is not advisable as the hydraulic wheel motors were not designed to work with greater loads. Shaft seals will start to leak, etc.

What was the original purpose of the yellow attachment. I am guessing , a 3ph attachment to lift hay bales or rolls. How much weight do you think it will lift.

Did you put a QA on it ?

I re-read and saw the 4000 lbs. Do you think those wheels will handle 4000 lbs?

That's a great idea !!. Some of you might remember... I built a hydraulic boom lift that had a lift HT. of 12'. I added caster wheels to the frame...very similar to your picture. You have built some great custom attachments in the past so I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the completed man lift.
