That Forkster looks interesting. I have often thought of making one much like it out of an old forklift front. But I came up with this thing first. Here is a crude drawing that might give you an idea of how I intend to design this ag lift thing. It will be designed to unhook and still readily hook up to a large tractor. The tongue may need to incorporate some kind of weight brackets. Also I only need to idiot proof this thing for me not the worlds public market. Thanks Guys for your interest, thoughts and ideas.

Just make that long tongue beefy enough and be sure the pin end can flex so it doesn't twist. For that backhoe that I am making I plan to use a ring and put a pintle hitch in my 2" receiver on the quick attach. We'll see how that goes!:)

3316 lifting system by Foskter would help you to lift:
1,200 lbs up to 16 feet
2,500lbs up to 12 feet
3,300 lbs up to 7 feet
and we have Generation I and Generation II available.
Let me know,
Caroline

That's a great idea !!. Some of you might remember... I built a hydraulic boom lift that had a lift HT. of 12'. I added caster wheels to the frame...very similar to your picture. You have built some great custom attachments in the past so I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the completed man lift.

Did you have some pics of this?

I wish I did !!. When my hard drive crashed a couple of years ago I downloaded all the photos that I had posted on this site...then I lost another hard drive. Maybe one of the other members took enough interest in some of the custom attachments I built and saved the photos...because I lost everything to cyberspace. Bummer , but it was a good lesson learned about backing up important files & photos onto an external hard drive! I sold the 180 and all the attachments in the fall of 07.

Well I see my old thread is still here and doing well. :) I still have my Kubota it's been one tough little machine, I love the diesel engine in this little tank. And I still miss my Power Trac. It was one versatile and tough little machine. I see you boys are all still enjoying quality seat time on your Power Trac's. Carry on!

I accidentally knocked over a dead 60 ft tall tree while working in the woods this last weekend. It happened so fast. Luckily It came down and just missed me with the help of my front bucket, I pushed it off to the side and it hit my home made steel tube roof. It took off my back tail light. The roof did it's job or I'm sure it would have broken my shoulder.

Glad it missed you! That is a nice looking tractor for sure.

Yeah, those dead trees are pretty hazardous. I've played around, ah, errr, I mean scientifically experimented with them over the years from running into them with my Land Cruiser to pickup trucks to my old IH and now my Power Trac. No one ever thinks about when hitting the bottom of a tree to knock it in one direction, that the trunk will bow half way up the tree and might not be able to support the weight of the top of the tree once the trunk is at an angle VS straight. It doesn't take much sometimes to knock loose a whole bunch of branches or even the entire top half of the tree right back down onto you. I go into the woods several times a year to mow the trails, do storm cleanup and get firewood. I am really happy with the steel lid over my head on the PT.

Looks like you're giving that composite cart a workout there!

I've got a Rubbermaid cart similar to that and it is pretty impressive what it can take VS a similar sized metal cart. And it doesn't rust, either! :)

Ladder Carrier

I have a 40' fiberglass ladder that weighs almost 100 lbs. It is a beast and when extended and is really tough to move around by myself. So I built this carrier from two eight foot rails of 1-1/4" square tubing and welded a PT attachment plate (PT425) to it. The rails fit inside the ladder rails so it sits on top of the ladder rungs. Two rungs under the plate are also square tubing. The other rungs are 1-1/4" angle iron and I use six u-bolts to attach to the rungs of the ladder to pick it up. I also attached six cleats from folded angle iron to hold the weight of the ladder when it transitions from being carried to being upright. The cleats sit under the ladder rungs. The struts next to the plate are used to attach flat steel out to the end to increase rigidity and take the load off the top weld on the plate.

My neighbor did the welding with his new hobart 140 welder. Not the best looking welds, but they are strong. We tested the welding with my 24' ladder, in the "low/travel" position, he pushed down on the end of the ladder with all his weight of almost 200 lbs...and actually the rear wheels of the tractor came off the ground.

The plate is attached flat on the rails with the ladder on the ground, so hooking the thing up is easy. The PT425 loader plate range of motion at its lowest point goes from flat on the ground to 90 degrees. As you lift the ladder the angle changes as well...but eventually to get the bottom of the ladder on the ground I work the curl to get it right. Then set it down with the float and shut down. Ideally with the PT not articulated, and just shut it off and use it to hold the bottom of the ladder so it doesn't slide out keeps the ladder from sliding left and right. Again letting me do the job more safely and without wearing myself out just getting the ladder in place or stretching when I am up there so I don't have to move it.

VERY slow movement is required so as not to bash the house with the ladder!

I made it with new steel, about $75 from Barker Steel in Canaan NH. When it warms up I'll get the oil off and paint it.
