I would also think that using a diverter valve on the FEL controls also prevents you from using bucket functions (e.g. tilt, rollback) when you have the diverter active. Right?

Yes, but believe me there are precious few times that you would need to activate the grapple (open or close) at the exact same time that you need to dump or curl. I've used both rear remotes and a diverter valve. I think they are about equal and both are entirely acceptable.
A true electric over hydraulic system will allow you to open/close and simultaneously curl/dump but you'll spend about $1000 to have that system put in by a dealer. If you are good with hydraulics and electric then you can make up your own electric over hydraulic system for a few hundred bucks.
