bx2200
I am attempting to run Aux lights for my bx2200, just two. I finally found some suitable ones when I was out of town, but this morning when I opened them up I found that there is only one wire coming out of the light. There are two aux wires under seat, one red with black stripe (power) and one black, (ground,...or is it a return?) I am guessing that I just gang the two lights togeather and just run one plug to red wire? The lights are sealed so I am assuming that the bracket is the ground.

You are probably correct that the mount is the ground, I'd still run a wire from the mounts to the ground wire, under the seat.

Exactly right. Definetly run a wire for ground!!

If you're mounting to something solid, no problem. Check continuity between the negative battery terminal and the surface you're mounting the lights on. If it shows no resistance, then that part is grounded already. As the guys said, running a ground wire to the mounting bracket won't do any harm either.

Thanks for the help. lights are on I just need to find a switch that is not so deep. You were right about running a ground wire to the bracket just in case. When I tested the lights, the rear one went on and the front one did not, after some back checking I realized that I forgot to attach the ground wire to the bracket of the front light. I had it there, just forgot to make the connection. I don't understand why the lights came with out a ground, and with out directions or a wiring diagram. Seems kinda important.

thanks again..........

It's cheap and old school. Cars used to just ground everything to the body.

You kids today

Kubota uses incredibly thick paint on their frames. Sometimes a good ground can't be obtained through it. That was discovered when welding. Using a grinder on the paint will also reveal its thickness.

Something like a light would even be more difficult to ground. I'd go with the guys that say to run a dedicated ground wire.
