Snow plow adapted to the FEL

thank you very much duffster/kenny. Looks like a pretty simple install? You guys have definitely convinced me its the way to go.

Is the relief adjustable? (the link shows 1500-3k, but doesn't seem to have details?) If so, I'm guessing it should be set under the tractor relief pressure, right? If not, and the tractor relief is 2500 (that's an assumption I have to check) where would you go with it?

It is adjustable, when the plows are mounted on the truck the x-over is set in the mid 3k range, so I would set it in the upper end of the 1500-3000 range and see how it works for you. It probably won't matter until you get into plowing real hard pack and/or ice accumulation.

What the tractor relieve is set at is probably irrelevant, it just would depend on the exact tractor valve configuration.

Do you think it matters that my front remotes are electric over hydraulic?

Thanks so much for your help. This is definitely going on the plow

No, you will see the benefits of this valve either way.

I think I follow, and see why the tractor relief is irrelevant. I'm going to have to look at how they set up the plow cylinders.

I agree with Duffster here...tractor PRV does not matter.

4shorts,

This one has been in my favorites for some time now, i finally took my plow off my jeep (plow killed my cherokee) In the process of breaking it down and I ordered my q/a plate.
In your set up to weld the q/a plate did you cut your plow frame left overs from the plate
see in your picture:

thanks for posting this.

Hey Johnny I'm glad to know you like my set up. It's worked very well for me. the only thing I have changed was to put two rear skids on the back part of the "A" frame. That way the rear portion of the cylinders couldn't dig into the ground if I wasn't paying enough attention to what I was doing. Now I don't have to worry. Oh yes I also added two side Super Nova Led lights on the front part of the plow as well for safety issues I was having while backing into driveways and having my plow slightly out in the street.

I think your asking me if I cut anything off the rear of the "A" frame? If so the answer is yes. I didn't need the original hook up so I removed it and just capped the rear portion with angle iron. I went out behind my shop (in the dark :) and found the part I removed and snapped a pic for you.

I haven't been around much lately. I'm restoring a few old bikes to add to my collection. The one I just completed is a 1972 Honda CT70 K1 and the one I'm doing now is a "69 Honda Z50. I had both these type of bikes as a kid so I wanted to restore a few of them again.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Good luck. Paul

Link to the bike I just completed if anyone's interested in seeing it :D

I was thinking of cutting off the ears and welding it on front q/a plate.
I also have the option of bolting it on the plate.
why not do both right.

what do you think?

I would just weld 2 ears on you QA plate. Make them out of some 1/2" plate doubled with the appropriate holes drilled to accept a hitch pin to mate it up to the dogs on your plow. Easy and will not alter the plow if you ever want to use it for something else down the road.

I got rid of the section I posted a picture of because I knew I would never use the plow on another vehicle. I cut that rear section off because it allowed the frame to come in closer to the QA plate and making it look more like a factory fabrication. Your at the point were you need to do what you want to do with it. If you think you might use the blade on a truck again leave the rear eyelets on it and go the bolt and pin route. If your like me and wanting to have it in closer to the FEL and look nice you'll have to do what I did and cut the "A" frame.

Thanks man. Much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the story behind the bike. Just had an article come out on a few of our other bikes. It's nice when you hear of others enjoying your hobby.

Here is the one on my plow, it's mounted to the frame that extend back to the center of the tractor.

Kennyd

I like the valve set up where do you have your hoses connected to?
I was thinking of disconnecting my curl feature after i put it in the float position.
Then I would connect hoses to plow.
Will that work or do I have to go for a grapple type set up is it called a 3rd valve for $600 sound right?
