Snow plow adapted to the FEL

Here are some pictures of my setup in action! Once again this is a very good setup anyone who builds one will be very impressed provided they put in on a large enough tractor.

Thanks again 4shorts

Thats a nice setup also. Looks like you and 4shorts are copying each other or are you guys brothers with your awesome fabrication skills:D:D

Anyone try this with a Fisher A frame?
(i.e. bring the A frame back so the pistons start behind the QA plate)

I currently have my Fisher attached in front of the QA plate but I really like this idea of making the blade much closer to the FEL.

I have two A frames and am considering buying another QA plate so I can experiment with the shorter configuration. I may need to complicate things a bit to allow for some kind of side to side roll. My drives are not level (side to side), which (I think) puts quite a bit of stress on the FEL arms

4shorts, great stuff!! Keep the good ideas coming.

I sure will Sir :D I'm very pleased with my set up as it is. I did a lot of snow removable with it and enjoyed having it. Mine has enough side by side roll as it is because of the little slop in the pivoting center bolt so that was a bonus. Looking forward to the winter to get to play again in the snow.

Thanks hunter. Yes the fenders came with the tractor when I bought it new last year. They are standard equipment on most of the Grand L's in Canada.

Here's mine. Not as nice as 4shorts, but I also don't get nearly as much snow :D:

Here is my version I did last fall. Not near as nice and finished as 4shorts or Builder but does the job. I will add angle hydraulics soon for this winter and maybe a better paint job. My FEL adapter bracket I made gives me multiple uses when the plow is not on, 2" reciever for many things such as a boom pole. I also attach extra support for the plow with a chain to it. I made it QA same as my bucket and forks.

Its been awhile but after a few changes, I finally got to test my plow mod with some great advise from many. I adjusted my loader adapter

Old

OLDNEW
NEW

You can see I moved the part where the plow bracket attaches back about 1.5' to improve the balance. I also beefed up where that bracket attaches. Something I wanted on this adapter was to be able to have multiple uses, so added a 2" receiver on top for any other 2" hitch attachements. With this ,it also gave me a spot to hook the chain for the plow to further support and balance the weight. (this is an older 8' steel plow-very heavy duty). The welding is not great as I was doing it in not the best conditions but wanted to get it done.

I was very happy with the results

With Plow Attached

I adjusted the skid shoes so the plow edge was at max height until a good base on the road was set and then I could lower to a better height. Soon I will get the hydraulics for the angle set and get a better paint job and then it will be all set. I was by myelf so I couldn't get any action videos. Maybe next time.

Almost forgot one more video

Any of you ever consider installing a cross over relief valve on your plows?

I highly recommend it.

No doubt there are some great ways to adapt a snow plow to an FEL with a few great examples shown above. For me I didn't use the chain because I wanted to have down pressure so I could back blade at times which worked out great for me last winter.

Duffster. As for the cross over valve, what would be the purpose of it? Not sure what it is or what it's used for but would like to hear about it.

A "crossover relief valve", or c"ushion valve" will protect the plow and FEL frame in the event a immobile object is hit by allowing the plow to angle. Meyer's, Western, Curtis and others have them built into the pump unit.

Take a look HERE.
