Earlier on, Brian had asked about the trees we cleared for the pond.
I finally loaded up some photos to share with ya'll. We dragged the trees to one side of the pond where we started another burn pile. We also limbed and bucked some of the trunks there. You can see Coco was there helping us out. Loretta used her dump trailer where we loaded it up with cut firewood to split later.

Some of the larger Oak logs were dragged over to where the log splitter is.
While I was sawing, Loretta chained them up and dragged them with her Jinma.

You may remember those 10' x 20' tent canopies we had at South camp?
We used to store the tractor and atv and my little camp workshop under them. Well, the tarps are worn and torn so we took them down and moved them to the homesite circle near Loretta's garden. We bought new tarps for the roof only and set them up. We are going to bring up a third (last) one but ran out of time. Our main focus over the last month(s) has been to clean up that pond area and cut, split and stack firewood for the Winter. Good thing too because we had a little snow 2 weeks ago.

So here are a couple photos of that ongoing project.
We still have several piles of already cut-to-length firewood that needs splitting. We run the log splitter off of her Jinma using that new detented Prince stack valve I installed earlier this year. We have a lot of wood (more since these photos) ... maybe twice as much now? You can see the stacks are about 7 to 8 feet tall under the 10' x 20' canopies. They are both full to gills now.
Oh, and for Eddie ... yup the chickens are always keeping us company.:)

Today we will be filling the storage batteries for our Solar Power. We have to do that (or at least check them) every month to be sure the water level and specific gravity is good. We bought a real "gate" for her garden fence and will be putting that up later on.
You guys take care and I will snap a few few photos along the way...

Rob, thanks for all the pics. I think that with the energy efficiency of your house and the wood burning stove, you probably already have enough wood for a year or two, maybe three. :D ;)

Wow how time flies when you're having fun.

....and here I thought your were just preparing for another holiday
extravaganza at the R & L Ranch... (or maybe a WorldAgExpo
Extravaganza?)

Sorry to hear about the 554 engine.....I remember when you bought that
machine, and agonized about which hoe to buy. I see you left the Nardi
outside. :-(

I am going to find your engine rebuild thread right now!

David, are you coming down for the Ag Expo? Should we start setting the wheels in motion for a get together?

How many hours on the engine before the rebuild became necessary?

How many hours on the engine before the rebuild became necessary?

Unfortunately only 718 hours on the clock.
In fact I have over 1000 hours though... which is the service recommended to remove the heads and clean them up, do valve lash and check all components, etc. Nevertheless, I am disappointed with the broken rings I found. You can get more details in that thread link I posted above.
