What type of fuel caddy?

I'm curious do you fill these caddy's at the gas station and if so do you leave the caddy in your truck or do you lift the caddy out of the trucK??? I do not see any lifting hooks on the caddys- Maybe some of you can lift the 200lbs or so caddy filled with fuel

I know if it was me, I'd devise some sort loading/unloading sling to use. Something I could pick up with hoist or FEL on tractor.

Two caddies. An empty one to put in the truck and another one on the ground to unload the full one in the back of the truck.

I've been looking for something to haul 50 gal of diesel fuel. The fuel caddy prices seem to be way overpriced for what they are. Right now I just use multiple 5 gal cans.
I'm leaning towards the steel tank.

So a 55 GAl steel drum fits that need. The UN Rated drums and the ones with "Lining" will be most resistant to rusting on the inside. That is what I ahve learned through some searches.
For Example: 55 gallon Closed Head Reconditioned Steel Drum - Epoxy Phenolic Lined (UN 1A1/Y1.6/250)


I'm going to try finding a clean a UN Rated 55 or better yet a UN 30 gallon tight head drum.

The UN drums I have found seem to be quite a bit heavier and also have three raised circular ridges rather than just two like thge lighter ones have.

1*No just plumb in an extra hose with a shut off valve to the intake side of the pump.

Most caddys and fuel delevery systems have the pump pumbed up to only empty the caddy or fuel delevery system.
My system plumbs the pump up in such a way that it allows you to do either one you choose empty or fill .

Here is how I do it
Unloading fuel off my truck.

Pumping the fuel out of the blue barrel in the bed of my truck into my storage drum .
**********************
No fiddlin with tractor and forks.
All done no muss no fuss and no need to call guss.
