I guess .. if the definition of being stuck is ... "the guy needs help getting out" . This will qualify.
I also think I have posted some of these else where in years past...
A very expensive error.... KennyV

Kenny,

Do you know how he ended up that far into the lake?

With a tracked machine and a bucket, I can't figure out how he got out there unless he drove it out there on purpose. Tracks don't roll, so turning off the engine would stop it from moving, or lowering the bucket into the ground would also stop it.

From the looks of those guys walking by, it looks like in was back in the 70's.

Eddie.
That was my commercial swimming lake, for several decades one of "the" places to go, in Kansas, during the summer...
Before I bought my Cat equipment, I would hire these guys to come out every spring. They would use the 4n1 buckets to back drag fresh sand onto my beaches.
That particular operator was the youngest and having way too much fun playing in the water. He ran waaaay out, WOT, when he hit the shelf where it suddenly drops off, the engine went completely under (no problem yet, as the intake was still above)... A surge of panic hit him and he quickly shuttled to reverse... The tracks ripped off the edge he was teetering on and it nosed in ... A big roar to total silence ... the water into the turbo ripped the crank from the block... destroying the then $25k engine.
You have a keen eye... that was mid 70's and if you notice that very straight thing they are stepping over... It is length of very BIG chain, one of many we destroyed attempting to pull the thing bucket down out ... KennyV

I've posted theve a few times already, but what the heck, they are still my two best getting stuck pictures.

Ed, those are brutal...I got stuck in the ditch in my driveway "Swearing" that I was moving to a warm (snowless) climate...that was 12 yrs ago:mad:

Still here...

Another story I was hauling a load of firewood in my bucket around back of my walkout rambler. The weather had been warm (late spring) and the snow was down to a few inches subsequently melting and leaving a very slick coating of ice. As I was coming around back and swinging up towards the house, the tires broke loose, hit one tree, did a swift 180 on my way down the hill to the lake...thank God there was a 30" Oak tree in the way...the wood and grill went flying, bent the bucket up about 8" and peeled an 8" wide 1" thick piece of tree from the trunk...did another quick 180 and just before the hill got real steep down to the lake I hit and stopped against the last tree with the snowblower...that was quite the ride...most surely would have been killed if I had gone down to the lake...had to wait 'til the next day after the ice had melted to get it up the hill...street chains/wheel weights/fluid in tires and blower mounted didn't even help get it to move only sideways and rutted up my yard...

I now have a Truckster Haulster for the wood...

i don't have pictures...... there sure are some goood ones here!.

I have had my Hesston 90 100 stuck in a seppi hole with a large flail mower attached to it. needed another tractor to help me out.

I have also gotten my 3710 bogged down to the point I had to pull it out with the 90 100....... nothing real serious in either case...... just too much mud and too few brains........

I have not been stuck in (5) years since I finally got a 4wd tractor. Prior to that it was 2-3 times a season on average. I am glad I finally stopped listening to the BS about just getting stuck deeper with 4wd. That said however, I did loose traction (1) time while discing last spring thru a mudhole just like in Robert's picture above. Unlike him though, I had the loader bucket on the tractor and simply used it to pull me and the disc out, so I never even had to leave the tractor seat (nor loose any time getting work done). I guess that wouldn't count as getting stuck then. A little tip for you there Robert: leave the bucket on the 4wd tractor when there is some risk of getting stuck. It can be your "get out of mud free card". Of course it may be possible that them blue loaders dont pull as well as the green ones like I use. What I did before having 4wd, was always use my second biggest tractor for operations where getting stuck was a risk. That way, I could always go back and get it out with the bigger one if I got into trouble. Also, when working land away from home, I always kept good relationships with nieghbors who had bigger tractors.

Proof that silt takes a really, really long time to dry. One minute we were drilling post holes for a dock, the next minute we were in the bottom of the pond.
