A heavy rain storm was moving in and we thought the skid loader might be fish food...amazingly this grader was working about a mile from our place. So this is the vehicle that pulled us out!

I wish I could have taken a good picture when I saw it, but there was a guy stuck about a half mile from my sister's place. It was a compact Ford tractor, probably about a 35 HP with a front end loader. He was out in a marshy area of a pasture and the tractor was sunk far enough down that the seat was wet.

I took a picture at the time with my cell phone camera, but it was too far away. The tractor was there for at least a week because I saw it on two different weekends. I never did find out how he got it out.

When I worked on a ranch as a kid, the owner got his swather stuck in the mud. We got it out by backing a flat bed 18 wheeler out to the swather and running a chain from the trailer to the swather. The drive wheels of the truck were still on good, firm dry ground, so we just drove it forward. The swather followed with no problems.

On the same ranch, I nearly got a 100 HP International tractor stuck when I sunk the left wheel into soft mud as I drove around the end of a freshly watered field. Luckily I had dry ground under the right tire. I applied the left brake and steered hard to the right. It took some doing, but the tractor eventually came out on its own power. The city kid nephew that was with me thought I was some kind of magician. He also thought I was going to get the riot act since "Uncle Jess told me to never flip that thingy that keeps the two brake pedals together."

Pardon my reminiscing. I'd wager that getting stuck stories are some of the most vivid to all of us. There must be something traumatic about the prospect of having to swollow one's pride and ask for help getting out.

OK, not the worst stuck, but this was about two hours after I finished this restoration on my IH-340. While I was stressing how to UATS, my wife thought this amusing and had to get out the camera.... I've since put drain pipes in that get all that water away from that one spot.... Here are some other pics of the restoration, including new bearings in the trans, total engine rebuild.

Beautiful tractor!!!! That hole looks like something out of a Sci Fi movie that just opened up and swallowed your tractor. The venus fly trap of mud!!! hahaha

Yes, I was not amused.... But I sold it on EBAY a year later and bought my JD 4400 and have not looked back. Well, except for this one I did two years ago... At least this one has not gotten stuck yet!

ill start off.

these are pics of 2 winters ago. just up the road from where we live the road has a huge slant and a 15 foot drop off after that that is so steep you cant even walk down it. well one icey day this is what happend. the front slid off the road and the back fallowed thank goodness there was 13 feet of snow to catch the tractor or it would have rolled so heres the L2800 sitting on 13 feet of powder.

No pic but a long time ago when I was a little kid (half century ago) my older brother got his chevy truck stuck one winter night. Next day we went out to dig it out...had to get a broomhandle to probe the snowbank to find the truck..it was totally covered over.
