get you a little miller mig. you will be amazed how easy it is to pick up and how satisfying and fun it is to build stuff like this, i love it when ppl ask me where i got the trailer. this was my first project using my uncles machine, i started construction after about 15 min of practice on scrap metal. mig is easy imo.

Here is my 3010 Mule in my 12 foot dump trailer. There should be a bed hold down bracket on the front somewhere.

desertmike345,

No bracket on the front of the bed to secure it to the frame. CurlyDave made mention of the neccesssity to secure the bed and it does make sense. I was hoping a tie down would do it

Here is why I was initially concerned

OK, this is probably a better perspective

Tried to line up the left side

Here are my two ideas:

No modifications to trailer (grey box, uprights are the darker gray ones) (Blue lines (straps) are the preferred way to strap it down. Red lines (straps) are the secondary way to do it)

If you were to put drings in the trailer you could do this:

aczlan,

Hadn't even thought of adding d-rings to the unit itself...hmm. In the second image where do you suggest the straps engage the frame of the Ranger? Are you an engineer by any chance?

Thanks for the suggestions, Diamondback

I would hook onto:
Front: Either the brush guard or the lower A arms
Back: Either the mounting points for the rear bumper or the trailer hitch .
Are you an engineer by any chance?
I am a systems administrator, but I think like an engineer.

This is an interesting topic for me, Diamonback, as I've had similar experiences. I've got a 5x8 utility trailer that is really too small for the Gator XUV, my tandem axle dump is a 6x12 and it has ramps and welded in D-rings in the 4 corners of the floor for hauling equipment, but it is 3500 lbs empty and there isn't much room for convenient strapping down of the Gator. I've also got a 17 ft. car trailer which is way bigger than necessary, but is nice and low, tows easily, and my favorite choice. I've thought about getting another trailer that would better fit the Gator but I just can't justify it.
I'm thinking that your 18 ft utility trailer might be more heavy duty if you don't want to use it for your Ranger, because my experience has led me to conclude the big trailer is actually easiest and best for me.
If you do go with your dump trailer and have D-rings welded in the floor, run your straps from the front rings to the rear of your UTV, and the rear ones up to the front, and I think you'll find you can crank the ratchet straps down in such a way that it won't move forward or backward and rub.
Good luck,

should fit fine. honestly you could probably get away with just engaging the ebrake, no straps especially for short trips. i personally run a 3 or 4 in ratchet front one front corner of trailer, through front bumper of ranger to the other front corner of trailer. then do the same in the back but run like through the frame of ranger. ive done this without an ebrake and it worked flawlessly, especially when backed in till the back tires were touching the rail of the trailer.

Don't see why you couldn't throw together a single axle trailer large enough to haul the ranger. Wouldn't take much for materials and alot more simple to load / unload.
