This weeks Advertiser Democrat Newspaper published in Norway, Maine reports that three coyotes killed a 10.5 year old appaloosa horse in Otisfield the other night. Evidentally the coyotes culled this horse, who had poor eyesight, from the rest. They chased the horse which in panic broke through two strands of barbed wire. The horse turned several times in order to defend itself, and ran further after the attempts. The horse finally broke it's leg in the panicked attempt to flee, and at that point the coyotes were able to complete the kill. Neighbors have been commenting on the increased coyote population and related noises. The nearby grammar school has kept the kids inside during their breaks fearing a coyote attack on one of them.
Boy, these things are getting nasty!
