I woke up one morning, looked out the front window, about gagged on my coffee. My horses were in the front yard! I managed to lock them in the barn, then looked for how they got out. What I found was that somebody had shot a deer either on my property, or on my neighbor's ( neighbor is an old lady that lives in Florida ) and the deer ended up in my pasture. So they cut my fence, drove their truck in, loaded up the deer and left. This was about 500 ft away from the house, but out of sight. I could have started a deer stand store with all the stands I have pulled outta my trees, not to mention ladders chained to trees. One of my neighbor's asked a hunter to leave his property, as the guy had ignored the no hunting signs. My neighbor is a minister, always very polite. The hunter was very belligerent. That night he heard some shooting. The next morning he found all 5 of his muscovey ducks dead on his pond. I could go on too long about this, if I haven't already. As I have said, go buy some property, especially within a couple hours of a metro area, and see how it works. I really don't want to be all negative, but until I bought my little farm, I never what a problem trespassing could be. It has gotten better, as I have rented the property out to a group of hunters. I hear about their arguments with the trespassers, but I am not getting my blood pressure up about it. And leasing land out for hunting is getting profitable - $30 - 40 per acre is getting pretty common here. I guess the root cause might be that there is not enough property availible.
