Haha!:D NO, but I did call her and say that the porch light is on! Funny how some things we usually take for granted sure look good when you've done without them for a while!

See....The whole thing started with a loose light bulb...:)

Yep.. looks like for us anyway it will be a rainy event, they did say it "could" snow, but unlikely.

You guy's in Oklahoma might get slammed again. My brothers FIL lives in Hugo Ok. he lost some limbs on the last one, but kept the power.

Hugo? Is that in Oklahoma?:D Yes, I think they dodged some of the bullet from the last storm.

I really hate to sound like a complainer because come July I'll be praying for rain but for now I wish it would dry up some. Man! It's some serious sloppy mess around here with all the melt. I've got mud in places I've never had it before!

LOL depends on where the Red river is on any given day, actually he lives a few 1000 yards from Ft. Townsen, just east of hugo, nice country..

As far as the "mud", I remember those melt months while living in Colorado..nasty!!!

Hey Bird and Western, are you getting as much snow as I am this morning? I have about 3" on the ground and beautiful big flakes coming down quite heavily. I don't have any reason to go out (no animals or anywhere to go), so I'm just sitting inside with a big steaming coffee mug while watching the snowfall.:)

/ North Texas "cold snap" #108
We don't have that much yet, Jim, but the forecast is for 3" to 5" today. The pictures are from about 45 minutes ago and it's still coming down. And, like you, I don't have any reason to get out today; got plenty of groceries and coffee on hand.:)

Bird, I have almost no wind here, and the snow is really coming down. I'm sure I have at least 3" of accumulation even if I have not measured it. If it keeps up all day as they suggested it will, this could end up being much more than forecasted. Here are my pictures from 10 minutes ago.

EDIT: I added a screen capture of the NWS radar showing this storm stretches all the way back out to Abilene. The Hwy 287 shield is right above my location and you can see that you are just beginning to get the full "benefit" of the storm. I think we are in for a goodun'.:)

Jim, those pics look a little familiar! Sorry, but you guys can have it for a while!:D

Beautiful pictures. I'm staying home today because I've decided that snow is as good a reason not to work outside as rain is. Besides, I'm staining, and that just isn't something I want to do while it snowing out.

I have close to an inch in the grass and on things like my tractor. The roads and exposed dirt areas are just melting when it lands. It's beautfuil and I've hopeful that I'll get a good covering so I can take a bunchof picutres!!!!

The forecasters are at 100% for snow today and then 100% for heavy snow tonight.

I'm loving it!!!!!

Eddie

Even though it's coming down pretty heavily, with the temperature hovering right around 32, a lot melts so it's not as deep as it would be if the temperature dropped a few degrees which may be what happens tonight.

And yes, Jay, I will be snacking on some peanuts around noon or shortly thereafter.

We are over 4.5 ", I have to get dressed and take the wife to work..She said she tried it and gave up sooo...This has been a unusually "wet" winter, I kind of like it if we can keep a little in the ground turning to summer.

Bad thing, I have around 200 "baby" trees delivered today, so i guess the nursery will be full till it melts off!

We have a disaster here. At least that's what my wife thinks.:D The snow has gotten so deep on the satellite dish that her DirecTV reception is blocked. So she's been trying to figure out how to clean off that dish on the roof. Well, actually she's been trying to figure out how to get me to go clean off that dish.:D

Don't ask me why I left the cozy warmth of the valley. Up here is Kerrville it shows snow and ice on the radar map. But no snow and 38 degrees for the high. On Monday we were running around in our summer T shirts and shorts. Hope this the last of TX cold weather.

Bird try chucking a few snowballs at it!

That dish is on the north edge of the roof, and of course, facing south, so I can't really see the face of the dish. However, I can see the same disk next door and it's thoroughly covered; 3 or 4 inches I'd say. So I have a 4' blowgun for my air-compressor, got the ladder, and blew at least most of the snow off our dish, but it didn't help. I wondered whether it was the snow on the dish or the snow in the air that's blocking the reception. My wife has a sister in West Virginia who told my wife, long ago, about them putting a plastic bag over the dish to keep the snow off.

Do any of you other northern folks do that?

/ North Texas "cold snap" #118
Hi Bird: Have heard there are a few companies that make a cover but up here I can't say I have ever seen 1. Don't see where a bag would hurt anything. Guess we are lucky ours in on top of a 2 story house and so far (8+ yrs) only time we have lost signal is when dish got loose/moved and the few really heavy T-storms/Rain. Never had had any problems with 'Snowfade'.

goggle snow on sat dish some places even sell a heater to stick on back of dish!!!!

/ North Texas "cold snap" #119
We expect to lose the signal during heavy thunderstorms, but I guess this is our first time for snowfade, too. I don't think it'll happen often enough for me to worry about it.:D

Bird, we are also without satellite TV. We still have good reception from our roof antenna for local OTA TV. Oops! Kathy just went out and cleared the dish (on a post) and we now have satellite again.:)

I just got back in from pulling one of my neighbors out of the ditch about a mile from my house. I cleared my tractor and it completely covered again in about 10 minutes of driving. I could hardly see to drive from snow in my eyes. I had to hold up my gloved hand and peek thru my fingers to see where I was driving. Fun! Fun! Fun!:D

We have about 10" of snow on the road and 8" of snow buildup on the handrails around our deck. I'll post some more pictures in awhile, but the funny thing is the sun is trying to peek through and the flakes are still coming down. Only in Texas. . . .

Edit: Pictures added...and it's still coming down very heavily.
