Here's an example (my Yanmar). The transmission serial number is highlighted at the center of the photo.

This is beginning to remind me of the YM2000 with wet brakes that we ran across a few years back.

OK Here is a picture of the serial number on the tranny.

It says 1500D - 00301

Is that cast in, or stamped?

I thought they all started with YM, YM1500D etc.

If that #301 is the production sequence then it seems to be one of the earliest ones. Does anyone know when production began on these?

i believe they ran from 1975 to 1979. that is what some of the papers state that i had gotten with mine.
