I usually love snow but this year I am toltally sick of it. My driveway is VERY long and I am sick of spending every single off hour I have blowing snow. The drifts are killing me !! I live on top of a mountain so I have plenty of wind..
Here is a pic of my property and how secluded it is. It is great living back in the boonies with a nice spring fed pond for the kids to swim in and plenty of room to ride horses and quads and plenty of good hunting. But, with that privacy comes a very long road That I have to maintain. Also, we recently post our phone service ( land line) and it looks like it will be spring before they can make it back the powerline to find the problem. This takes out our DSL connection which my wife is highly irritated over..
If you follow the road out form the house with the green roof , you will see how far I have to plow almost on a daily basis. I have to do all the way to the little neighborhood at the bottom of the mountain.. Ahh the joy of country living..... I still wouldn't want to live anywhere else though...

How long is your drive? I have about a 1000' to plow it took a straight 7hrs the other day with my small dozer. There was now way the tractor was even going to push the amount we had, especially being so wet/heavy.

Wow, I would hate to have to pay for gravel for that :)

I only have to maintain the first mile to my gate. Then the coal comanies take over. But they close up shop in the winter so I have to plow the whole thing. In the pic you can see where the coal companies have stripped and then backfilled the land into fields.

Thanks for putting things in perspective for me. I was thinking mine was long at 1400'. Now I'm thinking it ain't so bad.
Man, that's a lot of snow you've got to move.

LOL ! your welcome Mark. hey, it could be alot worse. We could live in the city with no driveway at all.

We have been lucky this year, only one minor snowfall. Going out today with the box blade to grade our private road, about ¾ mile. We have had some rain in the last few days so have to fill in the pot holes. Our last house in Victoria was next to a junior high school. Rather be out on the tractor than picking up litter and hearing the kids, the things they don't say these days. You say plowing the road, would a snow blower work faster/better for you?

I do snowblow the road also. It depends on the conditions. Lately It has been 100% snowblower because there is no where to plow the snow..
