2010 Kubota BX1860
OK, so I have always wanted a Kubota, who hasn't?

Last week I stopped in a local dealer "just to look". Got a price and ok, they have 60 months 0% too. I like 0%!
Still just looking.....
I wondered, " if i cleaned up my old tractor (1992 520H) and got a good price, i could use that as down money and finance the rest (small $$left)".
Still considering.....
Last weekend I detailed my 520H and put it on a WH forum and it sold in 4 days.
Oops, I still hadn't made up my mind....
Did I mention I forgot to run all this past my wife?;)
She gave me the OK last night and I bought one today.
I emailed Barlows and received a great price, but coupled with about $400+ in fuel and 11 hour trip (each way) I decided the extra $500 was well spent buying local.

Soon to own: 2010 BX1860, FEL, 48"MMM (fine for me- 2 acres), weight box, grill guard and mulch kit for $12,500 and free delivery.

Congratulations! Great little tractor. That just going in to look thing can some times be costly but lots of fun.:)

merkrus,
i also had a wheelhorse 416-8, but sold it for my growing list of bx implements.
one last question, did you consider either of the 54" decks (regular or fine cut?).

Congrats on the BX 1860.
Only thing I have done different is i'd have gone with the54''MMM.

Well, I bought my BX1860 and kept my 520-H . With what they were offering me in trade, I couldn't buy the implements I had for the 520. I'm glad I kept it since I use it to mow when the deck is off the BX.

Congratulations, you'll love your BX. I never thought power steering was a requirement, until I got it on the BX. And your fuel usage will drop dramatically vs the 520. I think I bought about 3 five gallon jugs of diesel in a year of use.

I agree with the other posters, you have picked a top of the line SCUT. The lethal combination of the smaller wheelbase, and that power steering, is what really sold me on this size of Kubota. I of course use the loader way more than I thought, and the three point I will fab implements for this spring, but the way it turns on a dime almost like the unit it is replacing (Simplicity Coronet-"Forrest Gump" style!) makes it a fantastic buy IMHO.

Fill the bucket, fill the BB, drive it around bucket low, get used to how it drives loaded, it isn't the widest tractor. Just some friendly advice from one who tends to overload things, I also can MMOB. Happy Tractoring, don't forget pics!

Thanks all.
Well, i was really torn about the 48" mmm vs. 54" mmm and decided the 48" is what I have now. Never have i thought- gee; " I wish i had a bigger deck", although only 6" wider, will fit easier in my shed (next to two classic cars), and WORSE case- OMG- I have to spend 15 minutes longer cutting grass:p
So, i decided 48" would suit me just fine.

The wider deck makes it easier to cut around obstacles without getting close with the tractor. That's the main advantage, not the time.

54 deck wheels turn for removal from under the tractor. It makes that job much nicer to do. Had a John Deere 48 that needed to be dragged out from under the tractor, not very handy to work with. I was not going for a loader when buying my BX becouse I have a larger tractor with one but when the dealer packaged it together I went for it. It's my best tool for landscaping projects ect. I know you will love your new BX. Bet you can't wait.

Yep, I went from a 48" to 54" and then 60" with less trimming by a second machine decreasing each time. With a 60", my push mower has not been used in years and recently gave it away; not second guessing anyone, just an observation.

Hmmm, I think that I may be re-considering the 54" deck now after all. I can think of a few areas where it might be nice being a few more inches away from bushes (especially the raspberries).
Well, I have until Monday to think and call the dealer. The model on the floor had the 54" on it, I don't think they swapped the 48" on since the mulch kit was on order.
Either way, I'll be happy with a new 'bota.

With a 54" you will get fewer scratches on you and your tractors for sure and don't really see an up side to the 48" unless you have gates a 54" won't fit through.

I just picked up my 1860 with a 54 inch deck 3/12/10 and I was tickled inside out, mainly because this is my first tractor. I shopped about a 100 mile radius and my local dealer had the best price and frankly were some great folks. I could use some advice about a disk harrow. The dealer says he'll have to weld some pin hole in order to fit the 3 pt hitch. I also was wondering how heavy a harrow I should get for the 1860? My yard has some decent slopes but it holds quite well. I think I made a good choice.

Yes, I changed the deck to a 54" fine cut with mulching kit. It'll take a few extra days for the deck to get here, not a problem as there is NO snow and NO grass to cut.

Those "small" disks can be brutally heavy. I have been searching/studying them for over 6 months. I would be very cautious about size and weight. FWIW

I am also looking to buy a bx1860 and went to my local dealer, was you price of $12,500 including taxes and other fees? I was quoted $12,900 plus taxes - for bx 1860, fel, grill guard, 54" mmm, and tire ballast, and the out the door price would be $13,843.60 after taxes. I live near Pittsburgh so I would guess our prices should be similar. Does anyone think this is a good price or can i get it down further?

Did you contact Barlows to check their price?

So what have you come up with on the disc harrow?I've decided I want/need:) a 60" 16 blades with 16" blades around 500-525 lbs. So far pricing has been from $550 to $700 but haven't been to Barlows yet. Will go there tomorrow or Thursday. What am I not entering into my decision making process?
