Tested the ROPS yesterday

Glad you're alright... did it happen as fast as they say it does??? I don't wear a seat belt normally but when I get on a side slope, I'll remember those photos... and hope not to add my own. I thought Nebraska was flat...

Yeah teg it was pretty quick. I shoulda put more weight on or hooked lower and dragged, but a guy gets in a hurry and i didn't want to rehook to lift it after the stump got to where it was going. It was OK until going steeper uphill. I figured I could just drop it if it was trouble. Dumb in retrospect.

Got to test the ROPS yesterday. We were moving a stump with the boom and lost traction on the front, spun around to the side and rolled over. The stump was just off the ground and it didn't help to drop it and stomp the clutch. I never thought I would really need the ROPS I made a few years ago. Posted pics on the Yanmar photo section. The tractor and I are both OK just scratched up some. Be careful out there!

Glad you were not hurt and your ROPS did the job it is made for.

Do you have an earth-sheltered home? Check out the Terra Dome build thread in General Forums>Projects if you are interested.
Dave.

Common misconception...it's because I-80 follows the Platte river valley nearly all the way across the state....

That ROPS did it's job, I think it would have rolled completely over and down the hill without it.

Hmmm, interesting about the seat belt. I rarely wear mine (here come the police). I don't know whether that is a bad thing after looking at this. Did you stay with the tractor or jump? Kinda looks like your leg could have been crushed if you had stayed with it (from the photo anyway).

My practice is;

ROPS up - seat belt on
ROPS down - seat belt off
