Moving 16x12 shed on car trailer.

Since it was stick built, it may not have been built with a view to being moved like the ones that they crank out with the pair of large skids underneath the floor. Those things are designed to be winched on and off trailers.

One of the things I found most handy when I had to move mine was one of those farm jacks that is kind of like a huge version of the old car bumper jacks.

Why not hire someone with a construction lowboy trailer? You said you could spend some bucks and still come out ahead of the game. Roll it on by pushing it on the lowboy and reverse procedure to unload.

There is no feasable way to get the lowboy near the shed, as you would have to pull in forward, break it down and seperate it, then get the semi tractor out of the way. There just is not enough room due to trees and terrain, as well as places along the route it would get high centered.

I rode the route on my ATV this evening, looking for tree branches, low wires, measuring gaurdrail height and width between gaurdrails etc. It was all good news, the gaurd rails on the bridge in question are 21ft 8 inches width wise, and 34 inches high. The 16ft wide roof section of the shed will be 6.5 feet off of the road, meaning as far as mailboxes and gaurdrails are concerned, I will only have to worry about the 12ft wide wall section.

I snapped some pics of the route and shed with my phone while on the ATV. I am working on loading them on my computer now. I will try and post them tonight.

Do you have a local police department? If you do; ask for an escort and pay them for their services; that way; everyone will be safe. I see no problems in moving it. I would jack up front, then support; jack up rear and support; back under it; lower and haul.

I've moved a 16 X 16 cabin and 2 halves of a 24 X 24 pole building (we cut it in half) with a trailer like that. The longest of these moves was only 1-1/2 miles. As other have suggested, raise and block the building until you can back the trailer under it. Drop it onto the trailer, blocking to clear the fenders and adequately support it, and away you go. Take it slow. From the pics of your route and the bridge you should have no issues as long as you clear the overheads.

I have taken a vacation day from work this Friday, and plan on geting the shed jacked up and sitting on the trailer by late Friday afternoon. Idealy, I would like to hook it up and drive away Sat morning around 7:00 AM. There is a threat of rain on Sat., so I may have to move it Friday evening around 7:00 PM.

Make some pictures for us.

I will definately try and take pics. of it being jacked up, set on trailer , transported etc. Maybe even a video of it going down the road. I searched Youtube last night, and could not find anything like what I am about to do, with jacking up the building and this large of a shed. Makes me wonder if I am an even bigger fool than some of the folks on Youtube LOL.
