2011 Superduty are out! ! !

The thing I do not get is why the idiot dealer ordered them with such low GVWR's. One was 9,200#, one was 9,600# and the Crew Cab was 10,000#. Come on, that is not a Ford Super Duty, that is GM territory. My 04 F-250 has 10,000# GVWR and my 06 F-350 SRW has 11,500# GVWR which is more like it.
My bud has a 90 Chev 3500 dumper that is GVWR at 11.5K and its a 90 with a 350 gasser. Where DO YOU get those figures?

Did it say what they want for it?

What am I missing? Is there something wrong woth it?
They don't say what they want but that it won't sell at "used" pricing

I think its just a leftover 08 that never sold

I get it from the window stickers on the Fords I looked at today and what I know about trucks and GM/Ford specs on the 2011's. GM puts 9,200# GVWR on all 2500 series trucks and 9,700# or 9,900# GVWR's on the 3500 SRW series trucks. The Dually gets 11,400# GVWR. I listed the trucks I looked at as 2 F-250's and a SRW F-350.

My F-250 has 10,000# GVWR and my F-350 has 11,500# GVWR and its SRW.

Ford offers on the F-250 line a GVWR range from 9,400# on the low range upto 10,000# on the high end. There are 4 steps going 9,400#, 9,600#, 9,800#, and 10,000#.

On the F-350 SRW they offer 8 different packages with the low end being 10,200# and the high end being 11,500# There are 8 steps going 10,200#, 10,600#,10,700#, 10,800#, 11,000#, 11,200#, 11,400#, and 11,500#.

So just because it says F-250 or what ever there can be a world of difference in the capacity of the truck. Many have learned the hard way like me.

By the way the GVWR range on the F-350 Dually is on the low end 12,200# to 13,000# with 4 steps. They are 12,200#, 12,600#, 12,800#, and 13,000#.

What this amounts to is the guy doing the ordering at this dealer needs to go to school. Why would you want a HD truck without the heaviest package available? Like I said I made that mistake thinking its a 1 ton and soon learned my F-250 was more truck.

As you can see the Fords have more available GVWR across the lineup.

Yes i would agree that the only person who would buy that truck would use it for some sort of business. They do make some NICE F650 that private owners have. They all seem to be crew cabs with a dully bed on the back. Asking why some would buy one would be like asking why someone would buy a hummer or a ferrari there is really no practical reason to own one, but for most guys we are fasinated by them from an early age and if one can afford it why not.http://www.cargurus.com/images/2008/06/02/15/43/pic-46196.jpeg

Maybe the last one qualifies as a motor home if it has a sleeper? One way to avoid weight fees in some states.

Thats about all the Dodge has though.
Don't forget the best diesel engine ever put in a light duty truck, standard integrated diesel exhaust brake & 5yr/100,000 mile warranty (Ford is 5yr/60k). ;)

I do really like how many different configurations you can order the Ford in, it's nice to have so many different options. If that new diesel proves itself and they change the styling back to looking more like a Dodge like the older Ford trucks then they could have a really great truck. :D

Yes they do but is it necessary at all? Do you really think someone goes into a dealer to purchase a new truck and says "Oh, that truck has the 12,600lb GVWR, I really wanted the 12,800lb GVWR..." and is there really any difference in the two trucks like an extra leaf spring or stronger shock? I highly doubt it, once again it's just marketing and Ford is definitely the king of marketing...

$63K for a truck no problem for the investment banker to haul his toys to the lake.
