....<snip>
pricing yanmars at the same price point as used US branded machines defeats the whole purpose of why the first dealers started importing yanmars years ago, LOW COST QUALITY TRACTOR, because now they are not deals anymore, your not saving money and the US branded machines will have a higher resale value if you needed to sale, so why buy a yanmar now?

If they are trying to make too big a profit, they won't sell any and go out of business.

Alright...... since this boring debate needs some fresh blood injected into it
how are my prices ??

Used Yanmar tractors, New Mahindra tractors, New Branson Tractors from Ernie's Imports Inc

I cannot afford nor justify putting that much money in a tractor that nice, but then, I am pretty durn broke and a pawnbroker to boot. They look like a good deal for someone that can afford them....

I bought a rough as a cobb YM 1300 with a finish mower and a few weenie implements for ~$1200~ thru my shop. There are as many buying philosophies and requirements as there are tractor owners.

I would LOVE to be able to fork out the $$$ for one of Earnie's tractors, I am sure many people do. If not, he'll either change the way he does business, or he'll go under. Personally, I hope he makes a fortune and retires at an early age! If not, he has only himself to blame.

BUT, it is HIS choice as to how he goes to market and I won't EVER throw rocks at a man for trying his best to succeed in an economy such as this. If he could make more money selling junky YM 1300's for $2000 (hey, I may have paid $1200 for it, but a man's gotta make a profit) I'm willing to bet he'd be doing exactly that.....

If ya don't like the way folks go to market, and ya think there is a better way to do it, the best answer is to open your own shop and put them out of business. Then you'll be the rich one and they'll be working for you!

I do what I do, and let others do what they do. If we can do business together, GREAT! If not, then I wish them the best of luck and hope they prosper!

The problem is you can EASILY buy a 10 yr old kubota, Massey, or Deere with more horespower and FEL loader for the price of a 30 yr old Yanmar now. I can't swallow the markup.

Good example, recent inquiry on a 2610 2WD with Koyker loader, UTDA cert, etc, $10,200....NEVER in a million years would I pay that, they probably bought the thing for $2500 or less.

Smoody, If a 10 yr old kubota, massey, deere, etc, is what you want . Then by all means go buy it. In the the years I've been on this board, I can't recall anyone complaining about what the yanmar dealers are selling their tractors for vs what they may have paid for them or how much profit they may or may not be making off the yanmar tractors. I looked around & didn't want to pay 15k for a tractor so, I bought a 30 yr old yanmar. I never asked the dealer what he paid for the tractor or how much profit he was making off of the tractor. I never thought that I was being ripped off.

Well are you willing to pay the current prices throughout the country on these?

If I were to make the tractor work a larger part of my business then yes I would. Dealer support means more than price under those circumstances.

You for some reason still can't get the point, I just hate to see the yanmars get priced out of our market and go away, is that to hard to understand?

Its not about the dealers, its about the brand for me, they can charge as they wish like they do, if people are buying them then by all means sell them, I would.

So you can't see spending 15k for a tractor that is brand new with 0
% financing and a 3 yr warranty over a 30yr old YM2610 w/FEL and 1 yr warranty for 11k?

thats a no brainer.

Anyway I made my point so take it for what its worth...

Well, I just don't finance..... You must not get my point...You seem to be the only 1 worried about this. If their prices are too high, They won't sell & prices will adjust or they will no longer sell. It's that simple. I don't worry about they buy it for or what I pay them for it. It was a good buy for me & obviously alot of others or we wouldn't have bought

This thread is going no where

have a good evening

If we had more consumers like you we all would be rich, fact is MOST people do care about price, and MOST people do have to finance, consider yourself lucky.

You must have given a lot for your Yanmar to be all bent out of shape about me stating an opinion.

Smoody, I dont know anyone selling 2610s for 11k, thats an outrageous price. We would sell a 2610-D 4x4 in primo condition with a new koyker 140 loader for around $8900 tops.
Heck the way the economy is going you could buy a deere for 11k.

So.... lets bring this down to earth, cause I dont know of anybody selling them for 11k, if you do, lets name some names heh?

We have been selling Yanmars since the 90s, and members of the old Yanmar club on Yahoo before it merged with TBN, and we plan on staying around a lot longer too. (Lord willing).
In other words, we have seen dealers come & go.

But 11k is really off the charts.

Hey Ernie. Hope all is good out there. That old Yahoo club has been years ago....

Bruce , I to admit my age, but yes that was a long time ago!
Since then, parts are whole lot easier to buy rather then going to Japan for them.
You can even buy a ring & pinion now days:D:D:D

I have so many old memories from the old days, what ever happened to Roger Scotty, or LB Brown who started the Yanmar club?

Well gotta go, the lovely wife is calling:)
