BX2660 HST fan GONE, gone, gone...

We need to have someone figure out how to replace it simply. A metal one would probably bend and also have to be replaced so someone find an easy way to replace!

JT, as far as I know, the "improved" fan guard was factory installed after a certain date, which suggests yours was assembled for sale just prior to the mid course correction by Kubota. I have always felt, although I took some heat for taking this position, that this shield could only cost Kubota $10 and they should have made it available to EVERY Bx owner. Don't want to say the "Toyota" word, but anyhow, that is how I felt, and still do!!!

No problem using that photo, BTW. No problem at all.

My BX2660 does not have any fan guard "improved" or otherwise. It does not have the one in your picture. My BX25 does. My BX2660 came to me with MMM my BX25 did not. Wonder if this is a dealer decision to add if no MMM and not add if a MMM?
:

John,
I thought you got you BX2660 after mine. Mine came with the stock fan guard. I would have thought for sure that yours would have had one.

I've had mine close to a year. Maybe May.

Yea I remember now. You were telling me how great the seat was on the 2660 vs the 2360. That is reason I decided to go with the 2660 over the 2360. I must have been thinking of someone else. My Bad.

I believe the cost on those shields is something like $39.
Think about it? Although, an MMM is a pretty big shield.

Sorry for your mishap.

After reading online about the great grief a stick in this fan can cause. I tractored around for a long time with the mmm on. To the point of beating the crap out of it. Broken shield knobs from rocking up and bent leading edge from hitting stumps etcc.. It was worth it.

This winter I did major maintenance and retrofits etcc including installing the lastest version of brush guard from kubota.

I agree with earlier poster Kubota should recall these machines and retrofit the best brush guard possible.

I'm thinking! I'll have to decide if I'll ever use it again without MMM. If so, shield for sure.

My original point was that if Kubota was mid-course correcting, and now installing a much better protection system, and I believe it is a huge step forward, that notifying all BX owners that they could stop in a Kubota dealer and pick one of these up of free, or at cost price of what? $10-15? would have been the right thing to do. In fact, Kubota did not choose to do that, nor even draw any attention to the improvement. I don't personally believe the Japanese business culture (think Toyota?) quite "gets" some of this, but that is just my $.02

I don't believe one should HAVE to always have an MMM on to protect that silly fan. Sorry, but there are many times when you cannot use it as you'd wish with such a thing on underneath.

BTW, JD and MF has similar fans. Off my soapbox now.

I bought a new fan, cut out the center and then glued it into place. I put a couple of screws in to reinforce it and never had a problem. I spent $8. I can't fugue out why anyone would do more than this to fix it. It is a design flaw - no doubt about that.
