BP....I'll try to post photos when I get started. The fans should be here Tuesday. I have to wonder if it wouldn't be easier to perform the swap from up top though...instead of underneath. BUT...I've crawled under the BX and it's fairly easy to get to so I'll just play with it and see. You can bet I'm gonna' give it the ole college try and make sure the glue has set before reving it up. I see no reason for it to NOT work really.

Keep your fingers crossed! I'll be back once the fans are here and my camera is charged.

jeepnut, you gotta know we're pulling for ya. We sooooo want to see this thing in photos, step by step.

And if I'm successful, every Kubota dealership will hate me! lol There goes my chance for ever getting service work again! lol Wouldn't it be cool if my buddy, in the injection molding business, could design a fan that could be hinged and latched? Wonder if we could sell the drawings....hmmm

Thanks Donn.... So how is it holding up? I was actually thinking of removing the old fan altogether... but I can see value in leaving the old collar... The only problem I see is the fact that the new fan will have to be spread apart a bit and that might cause a vibration?

Give us an update if you will...

Shame on Kubota for such a shoddy design. These are far more than lawn mowers. For that reason, I have been leaving on my MMM all the time lately while doing alot of "in the woods" work. Its sad cause the deck does sometimes catch on a stump or two, but I dont want to risk braking that crappy little tyco battery operated fan.

I wholly agree that a two piece designed fan should be in the works, there are too many documented cases of this, even with both kubota shields and brotek shields. Its a tractor, shouldnt have to be handled with kid gloves.

Too be honest, im surprised mine isnt stripped out yet. ive done some silly stuff with the mower off.

What is the part number for the upgraded shield so I can at least ad it to mine for ***** and giggles?

Thanks!

To be honest...I don't think the Kubota skid will offer complete protection. It appears to me that it's a little too open for a stick to pass through? Someone who has one might speak to this. I've just seen pictures. I'm hoping to get both skids from BroTek before the end of the summer. I'm not sure why it takes so long to get them?? Anyone know?

Can a non-BXer ask why the fan is a bigger stick magnet than the hydraulic filter? From the pictures John Thomas posted it looks like the hydraulic filter is FAR more exposed than the fan.

I've put a stick through my radiator so I vaguely know how y'all feel.

I think the sticks are easily deflected by the filter... but it doesn't take much to shatter that fan when it is spinning.
