I read a post here which says use ISO 100 Campbell Housfield Compressor oil. (jinma 224)

I followed the procedure I downloaded from an old johns tractor page. So I emptied the oil from the reservoir, then set out for ISO 100 Campbell Housfield compressor oil.

Auto parts store did not have it.

Went to Home Depot. Bought " HUSKY AIR COMPRESSOR OIL".

It is manufactured by Campbell Housefield, but NOWHERE does it say ISO 100.

Is this oil OK to use?

I first used multi-grade engine oil - 5 years ago.

Drained late last year and replaced with hydraulic oil. I suspect that so long as you use a "light" oil, the most important thing is to replace it at least once a year - something I will do from now on.

Neither oil mentioned here is fit for informed governor service.
But I digress... do whatever you will do.
To someone that puts 600 hrs. a year on their governor, it's no big deal.
But to someone that puts over 600 hrs. a month on their governors it means a lot, and they are more likely to be pretty picky about what they put in them.

The only thing the oil lubricates is the lift pump seal and cam follower, the front seal on the camshaft, the camshaft and plunger contact areas, and the governor. It does not lubricate the injection pumps at all.

I just run a SAE 30 motor oil in mine. I run 15W40 in the engine and have not had a issue with either.

It's probably just fine. ISO100 merely represents the viscosity, the equivalent of 30W engine oil. Oil with an ISO number lower than 100 would likely be too thin.

It certainly looked and poured like 30 weight. I hadn't changed the injector oil since I bought the tractor (from dealer) anyway, what came out of the reservoir looked pretty darn clean....but I am told to do this every year. Its easy to do however and only cost like $2.50....

Thanks for the info.

20 hours per day running time on a chinese tractor - good luck to you, you certainly do need to keep on top of maintenance and oil specs, but at least you have 4 hours down time each day to do so:thumbsup:

I fit in the 600 hours a year bracket and wear my underpants inside my pants:laughing:

I don't believe the Chinese governors could last in that working environment. I was referring to the Woodward UG-8's and 2301's on the EMD 16-710's that I run. Currently getting ~15,000 hrs. MTBO.

I did understand that it was a guarded personal put down... but since you know next to nothing about me apart from the fact I have a chinese tractor I simply put it down to childishness. Hence my mocking response. Notice the lack of emoticons on this response.

BTW, what oil do you suggest Superman?? In your eagerness to flame me you never did say.

Wow! Grommit 10 posts and you already know what everyone else does-

Bob is superman! And may I add a REALLY nice and helpful guy! BTW the search function would have show considerable discussion on what type of oil to use in the injector. Either way welcome!
