Hi again,

Well, guess what.....my husband is in Bangalore!!! Small world. He is a consultant and his company writes proposals to help defense companies secure new contracts. He is over there right now helping LM although I don't know the details of this one. He will have been there 2 weeks all total. This is his first time there and he says it is a pretty wild 'ride'. He is staying in a 5 star which is absolutely superb, but when his driver takes him to the base, he says it is like traveling back in time. No AC, continual power outages, and rest room facilities...well, that would be euphemism. He has said that the people are incredibly polite and nice no matter where you are. Driving is only done by 'professionals' and he said that it's an experience to say the least. There are no traffic signs or signals and cows, people, dogs everywhere. The drivers just whiz past each other by inches and use their horns.
I know I will hear more detail once he returns (Wed.)

Boy, you aren't kidding when you said complicated fuel system. Looks like a maize to me. lol Of course, even the simplest would appear that way to me.

I am calling my dealer today and seeing what he recommends. I just want to get this fixed so that I can be ready next spring. ;)

Thanks again and have fun in Bangalore!! :)

Hi Kevin,

I have not noticed any sort of noise so I am thinking I don't have a problem with the fuel pump. I do remember the mechanic stating that when he was bleeding the fuel, that it was coming out slower than he thought it should. So, maybe there is a kink??
Hey, thanks for the picture. That should be quite helpful....well, for my husband, that is. :) I don't know that I would know what I was viewing??
Vermont...eek!! And, I thought it was cold here these past few days. It has been miserable though. Sun's out today. hoooooray!!! :D

Thanks again for your help.

Karen

Here's some pics ... they're looking at the fuel filter on the right side of the engine. I annotated the photo of the top of the filter assembly to help identify which hose goes where. Notice that on mine, the #50 hose is looped and almost kinked.

If the tech said that it bled slowly, it's probably a plugged or pinched hose somewhere...or maybe he just didn't know the proper procedure for the TZ's.

Our weather has been in the 40's the past few days...mostly sunny, today is overcast with rain coming later...

Hey, thanks a bunch. My husband is home from India today and I took the TZ out to mow just to see if it would 'perform' its tricks so he could experience. And, 'ole Bessie' came through with flying colors....UGH! Anyhow, I don't exactly what his impression is yet. We received a fax from our purchasing dealer with some hits from the NH site, but none really seem to fit the scenario. *sigh* I will of course print out your post along with pics. Very nice of you to take the time to post. I started mowing at 96hrs. and at 96.8 RPM's dropped and running ROUGH. Had to shut off sit a just a few min., restart and then maintain RPM's at around 1K until running smoother and then VERY gradually move up to around 2K and limp back to the barn.
Well, at least I figured out how to properly post reply directly back to fellow poster. The 'lingo' is different here...."quote".

When we figure this problem out, I will definitely share.

Thanks again.

If you've made it this far, you've got a good understanding of what I meant by a complicated fuel system. I suspect you will find the problem is something simple. It might even be that additional filter that is separate from the main filter bowl. The fact that the engine runs fine without a load and then sputters when you put it under load is a sure sign of fuel starvation. You just have to find and eliminate the source of the obstruction.

May I ask what part of India your husband is in? My company has just acquired a company in Bangalore. Last week we were video-conferencing with our colleagues there and I would not be surprised to have to make a trip or two there within the next couple of years. However, most of our work can be done by teleconference or web meetings. They are a lot cheaper than travel and hotels.

I posted this in a separate post to the thread, but meant to post directly to you. Didn't know how. But, figured it out tonight. Just in case, here it is again:

Let me give you a tip when dining out. DON'T go to Whimpy's for a burger. Boiled hamburger is not something that will be served in Texas anytime soon.

Sorry for the LONG delay in responding, but haven't been on here in a while. It ended up being a minute piece of debris in the secondary fuel filter.

Wow! I retired and started drawing SSI since this post started.

It's good that you found your problem. Is your hubby still making trips to India? I'm living the good life since I retired and not lookin' back.:D
