Congratulations on a great deal Roy! This new ride will give you the gears you love, and much nicer shifting for loader work, etc. I don't think it's less manly at all! Keep us posted on the tires, etc. I'm thinking that you are going to look pretty good up there, and it may take a while to wipe your smile off.......... and that is a very good thing!

Believe me, that smile will get smacked off as soon as my wife sees it (she'll see it at home before I will).
I'd told her I was buying a smaller tractor so she could use it...

This is very true....I'll be taking Testosterone suppliments as soon as the 4400 is delivered.

But the hat stays...just wearing it is better then using viagra!

Good grief, that's funny!

Great to see you didn't trade in your sense of humor too!

Roy, if you had R1's on that, i'd trade you my R4's! i just reversed both my front and rears for wider stance. not sure why they made it like this, but the front is wider than the rear. the original configuration, the front and rear had the same overall width. now the fronts are 61" (same as bucket) and the rears only about 57" (overall width, outside to outside).

i haven't taken it on the slope yet to see how much better it feels.

It will feel a LOT better.

You bet it will!!!!!!
Heck, just swapping the fronts on my 790 was a great improvement.

I'm really surprised defed's rears were narrower then the fronts. I think they were set on the narrow position. The 790's rear R-4's are about 6" wider (using my memory on this...so take that number with a grain of salt) then the front tires (even after I swapped side to side).

well, it doesn't feel much better! it has to be the height of the ride that makes it feel so bad. if i look at the slope on the side of the road, it doesn't even look close to being bad, but as soon as i'm on it, it feels like 45 degrees! i think i am going to see if my uncle (welding shop owner) can make me some solid extensions for the rear. i can only go about 2" more on each side before it's as wide as the bucket.

my ford 600 has a bit of a wider stance (and lower ride) and i never felt that i was even close to tipping.

i forgot to get the current measurements of the width, but when both front and rear where in the narrow position, they had the same overall width. with both in wide position, front is 61" and rear is about 57".

Defed, I know that feeling very well. The part of our yard behind the pool gets mowed every week and I'll even turn around on it and I've never felt unsafe at any time (just finished it in fact). If I get just two wheels on that patch with the 4200 I feel like I'm about to tip over. I've gotten off and jostled the thing and its solid which means it just feels that way because you're so high up. Still, putting the tires to the widest did make it feel safer for me.

Roy, your's will do the same. The widest position has wider fronts than rear.
