Sorry PT guys. I don't have a PT but have a friend that does and we want to share attachments. I figured (maybe wrongly?) that this is the best place to look for this info.

I'd like to know if anyone has built an adapter to allow PT attachment use on a standard Cat 1 3PH? I'm someone here has but I'll be darned if I can find the posts using the advanced search.

Thanks in advance for the advice or links to further info.

Actually, he is trying to do the reverse - use PT equipment on a 3 pt hitch.

DOH! :mur:

If that's the case, I would take a sheet of steel the same thickness as the PT male plate and cut out a duplicate. Then weld that on 2" standoffs to another plate or frame that has 3PT mounting pins. You would have to develop some kind of latching mechanism. It could be something as simple as drop in flat keys with lynch pins to keep them from bouncing out. Anyone with a torch and welder should be able to do it for under a hundred bucks.

Just curious, but what PT implements would you want to run on the back of a 3pt tractor?

A trencher for one, maybe a PHD but that would probably work better on my FEL with the bucket removed. The trencher is what I think I need first though.

I plan to go by my friends house that has the PT stuff soon to take some measurements. I just thought I'd take advantage of the knowledge if someone else had already done this.

I can cut, weld, etc. I'm just looking for a good design.

Thanks.

I would look at JJ's tractor (his old 1400). It has Manual locks i think, which unless you want to get fancy and make hydraulics, you will need.

The other thing also is getting juice to these devices, and making sure you machine (the "normal" tractor) has enough to power it along. PT tends to run its hoses next to the device, so if you build a large plate to hold the device, you might have a hose running issue.

Would it make more sense to swap tractor work with each other? You could help him with ground contact work like plowing.

When I acquired my used PT2445, I picked up a funny looking rear PT plate scenario that connects on the back (when backhoe is removed). It's powered by rear hydr connections. It is similar to 3pt (connects in three places via linch pins). Thus far I've used it primarily for box blade and tiller. It lacks float and is a bit finicky, but it works. Essentially it uses three hydr cylinders to control raise/lower and tilt front/back. It also has the PT quick attach hydr mechanism (but manual would work) I'm considering using it as a 3pt hitch for non PT implements ;). I'll snap some photos of the rig I have when I get a chance. It may give you some cross-fertilization ideas...

FWIW, I would suggest you rethink using trencher and/or auger on the back and consider modifications for allowing a PT receiver on the front. Either way, as Moss and others suggest, it should not be too tough to replicate PT plate concept and perhaps even make one that would serve as both 3pt or front (bucket?) attachment.

If you would use this attachment and attach a male PT plate, you could use PT attachments. If you attach a female PT plate to another 3ph unit, you could use 3ph stuff on a PT.
