Hey guys, going to buy a 1600 from a guy on the next street over. It's a complete rust bucket. The hood is completely rusted off of the hinge assembly, fenders are there but have seen better days, no seat. But it does run, moves in all the gears, (including the hi, med, low ranges). The lift works, as well as the pto. It's the same motor as my 1700, but a different drive train. Has new tires on the back (same size as my 1700). The asking price is so low that I cant pass it up. Just the rear tires alone for spares for my 1700 make it worth buying, not to mention the motor parts and radiator for spare patrs. The fact that it runs and is useable as is dont hurt much either.
He is asking 500, but said I could make an offer. I would be happy paying 500 but we will see. It's so close to my house, I will just drive it home.

Just though I would post this and get some backup on the justification to spend the money! LOL TB

The radiator alone is probably worth the $500.

You are going to have to stand up while driving it home.:D (No seat).

It must have set outside for 30 years.

500$ for a running diesel with new rears and bad cosmetics and you are asking? :)

go get it.. find 500$ sheet metal on ebay.. and you are good to go with a spare tractor.. or heck.. make yer own.. seen that many times..

If that was in my neighborhood, the owner would not even have put it up for sale.. they'd just have dropped it off at my place and mailed me a bill to save time :)

TB,

$500... what is this world coming to.. do they think you're a millionaire or somethin:D:D

Get on the deal before it goes cold. If nothing else you can make a hotrod out of it making you're own sheet metal the way they do to Indy race cars. If the fuel injector works fine then you can clean it up , have a good spare tractor .. may be for rental purpose for neighbors for a few years till it dies. Even dead and still it would bring you some money including a set of tires/rims to boot. I priced ag rims (spare) for mine and it was pretty steep more than $500.

yep.. it's almost like have an entire spare.. or better yet.. a 2nd 'beater' work tractor to do the menail tasks..

2's better'n 1.

LOL no, I wasnt asking if I should, just a few answers to make me feel better about spending money. Yea, its a good thing to have extra parts, specially at a cost that is far below what one would have to spend on parts otherwise. I should be spending the money on a carb for my MF135, but that can wait! TB

the 'regular' priced carb will still be on the store shelf long after this super super super cheap 1600 has been sold. :)

That's a good one!

I just went thru the process of buying used 1210 like mine for parts and have zero regrets.

I am in the black on the deal now and have a ton of parts I am going to keep for mine. Plus, I got the experience of a major tear down and it wasn't on mine!
