Well if you have ever driven a D5 I think you would say that is a dozer as much as anything can be a dozer. Even a D2 behaves as much like a dozer in feel, roughness and for its ability to move dirt based on its size..
Worked at the Caterpillar distributor for Ky for 3 years. I have driven the D5 size dozer and yes they are a dozer and rough but next to a D9 the are small. Like the BX is small to the M size Kubota but the BX is a tractor and will do lots of jobs and the B will to..

Congratulations and don't forget we like pictures.

Thanks again. Here's a picture as promised - our 5 year old was the first member of our family to sit in the tractor (his older brother was in school).

Very nice machine, you are going to have a blast.

Kids LOVE tractors. My son put a buddy seat in one of our cabbed tractors and my three and five year old love to ride in it.

Our 7.5 year old was out of his mind when he got home from school and saw the 3030 sitting in the driveway.

I've been describing this purchase as a purely rational one to family/friends, but I must admit that I felt a bit (ok, a lot) like a big kid using it for the first time tonight to mow.

Do you have a picture of the buddy seat? I've always avoided having our kids anywhere near our riding mowers because that just seemed too dangerous to me, but I'd like to have them be able to ride in the tractor if there's a safe way to do it.

I will have to check to see if it is in there now, it is just a car seat that he usually takes out when he isn't using it. The cab on the Case is pretty big and the seat won't fit in my L5030, but he rarely uses it. Like you, I don't put kids on or in my tractors as I can't do it safely. Depending on age, I have let them sit on them if someone is close.

For those will be alarmed at letting a child on a tractor, my son is a Police Officer who is very safety conscious.

Thanks again to everyone for your great advice. After 3-4 hours of brush cutting with my new 3030 today and yesterday, I don't have any regrets and am finding myself having more fun than I anticipated using the tractor.

I didn't expect such a large (for me) tractor to be so easy to drive, but like a good sports car, I find the 3030 feels far smaller than it actually is. The steering is quick/easy, the turning circle is impressive, and the hydrostatic transmission is fantastic for mowing.

The brush cutter works far better than I anticipated. Not sure what the person who used to mow the fields at this property used, but they never looked anything like what I was able to achieve my first time out. Not a finish mower of course, but given how bumpy our fields are, I wouldn't attempt to use one.

Looking forward to grading the driveway and using the FEL among other things....

I should add that they also apparently love to name things. Our 5 year old has named our 3030 "Frank" after the angry combine in the Cars move. "Except our tractor isn't mean" as he explained it.

That's funny. When bush hogging with a ten foot Woods mower, my grand daughter looked down and said, "Our tractor sure is hungry."

While I'm on the site, here's another picture - view from the 3030 mowing our fields this evening.
