Hello,

I have a BX 25 with 135 hrs on the meter. Today for the first time I removed the BH and installed a new 3pt hitch and Box Blade. After about 20 minutes of use it started making a squealing sound when ever any hydraulic function reached it stop. I first noticed it when the 3pt hitch went to max hight and I though it was just confined to this area of the tractor but it does it when the FEL reaches its stop as well in any direction.

I know all BX's make a noise when the HST reaches its pressure limit and switches to bypass relief but this is much louder and its a new noise to my tracter.

After some time troubleshooting and finding nothing I decided to re-attach the BH and do some work to see if the sound is still there.......guess what, its now gone. So I removed the BH and connected the hose back to complete the hydraulic loop as per the manual and the sound is back again. This time I expermented with rpm and the sound definitly gets louder with increased rpm.

Is there a different circuit used in the HST when the BH is removed, I dont think so but just grasping for ideas here. Did some reading on here but found only one other person with this problem but the thread did not go on long enough to explain if the problem was solved.

Could it be that somehow the female QC has a problem mating to the male QC on the tractor where the BH QC usully connects. Hard to explain but bacically there is one connection you have (with BH off) to make to complete the circuit, that is the one I am refering to. That is the only thing I can think of. All the same connections on the BX are used with the BH off, just in different places.

I called the dealer and he seemed to think it was the relief valve but that was before I re-installed the BH again, and as mentioned above the sound is not there with the BH on, and I run at 2800rpm when using. So I think it is definitly not the relief valve, but I am not a mechanic.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

It very well could be the coupler and that would be the first place I'd go from the sounds of things.

My BX24 has done that since I owned it. I just stop when it squeals...so far, so good!
I now have 667 hours on it...

Mine always made the normal sound when the HST switches to its relief circuit but this is something different. If yours is making the squealing sound that mine is making I think eventually something will fail, I want to try and find it before that happens.

I agree, maybe its that I am not getting that connection made properly, its a tight spot where thet placed the connections on the BX for the BH and other implements to connect.

Actually, now that I am thing about it, I find it more difficult to make the required connection to complete the hydraulic loop when the BH is off compared to making the same connection to from the BH female QC to HST male QC.

Remove your backhoe and let everything cool down. You will notice that it will not start squealing until the fluid gets hot.

You are correct, but what is causing it?

I have also had this problem 1 time. The hydro was hot from box blading. Made a squeal when trying to lift the 3 point a 1/4 inch at a time. My machine is a bx25 with only about 15 hours. I has not done it since mowing loading or other wise. Could have been a piece of dirt from manufacturing in there and moved on. We had a Big New Holland at work from new the 3 point would not move. Under warrenty got it checked and there was dirt in the valve. Just giving some more input. Sorry no answere. Mike R

Don't know...I was always curious, but like I said, I have been using my tractor HARD for many hours and no issues. I just stop as soon as I reach the stop. I am curious what you find though....

Well, from my point of view, it does squeal louder with 3pt when it reaches the top. I beleive its from the reverbation from the power beyond hose. If you put your hand on the power beyond loop, from the seat, (careful watch those lift arms) and lift the 3 pt. When it reaches the "top" and 3 pt releif kicks in, the noise does seem to emanate from the hose. With the PBYD hose loop so close to the seat, I am not suprised about the noise. When the BH is hookedup, the pbyd hose is down below the "floor" of the feet on BH so its hiding some of the noise there.

Remember with the BX's it has TWO return oil lines with BH connected. With the loop on for 3 pt use, all of the oil is going in the primary oil return on the pybd making the relief kick in stronger and more.
