Obed,
The brick looks a lot better than the house wrap :D

Seriously, it's amazing how much the brick changes the visual character of your house. You must be lovin' it.

Obed, from what I have been able to see from the photo's your masons seem to be doing a great job in a timely way. Depending on weather they can be a slow down point in the process. We normally have some of the inside trades working at the same time. Do you have anything else going on right now?

Theft

On Wed., the electrician told us we were missing half a spool of 12 guage wire. He had left the spool sitting on a horizontal pipe about a month ago. So sometime within these past weeks, the spool of wire disappeared. We suspect one of the workers took it.

This afternoon, we found out we didn't have three long steel lintels for the brick over the big window and garage doors. Each missing lintel is 12+ feet long (about $500 worth). After knowing about the wire theft, we were wondering if the lintels walked off also. However, after some research, it appears that the supply company did not deliver them. That information was a relief.

Night Light Question

I am interested in having a night light in the hallway and one in each bathroom. I have seen some night lights with motion detectors that you can plug into an outlet. I would really prefer an automatic night light that is installed in the wall instead of plugged into an outlet but that all depends on price and trouble.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what night lights to get and where to put them?

Thanks,
Obed

Well I'm a Johnny come lately to this thread
Dennis,
Welcome to our thread. I hope it is some help to you. The TBNers have really helped us avoid some problems and have also provided some great suggestions that we would have not considered. I hope to see some pictures of your project.

Obed - I see by your pics that the mason figured out how to install the scafolding around the porch roof w/o taking it down. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal once they put their minds to it.

Brick work looks good - I'm jealous.

The electrician left 1/2 a spool of copper wire on site for a month! In this day and age I am not sure what he was thinking.

That was my thought too. Second thought was how does he know? He would have to take notes for each job site or something to be sure, or he's well under 50

There are downward grille lights that are used on steps a lot so the light illuminates the steps and the floor, but does not make for a major ambient source. That is a good nightlight, IMHO. Depending on how fancy you want to get, you could connect those to a motion sensor, or a light sensor for night operation. That is great for hallways and steps.

For bathrooms, you can run a string of LEDs under the cabinets in the toekick area. The issue is that many of those lights put out way too much for a comfortable night light. A very short string in a couple places would probably do just fine. Again, down low, and not in your eyes. Decide on controls much the same as above, or of course you can always use a switch.
