good point...

I am sure Cyril could use some high security to enforce the classified nature of the compound over there.. and I am sure MT could bring a uniform and make it look authentic when he raises or lowers the colors!!!!

Attention on DECK!!

COLORS!!!!

CARRY ON----

J

I think it would need to be that southern uniform he has on on his avitar.

anytime someone shows up with a Calvary campaign cover, people take notice....

but once you were to hear my Attention and Colors Announcement you'd stand tall!

We did a ceremony not long ago to present a gift to a young man in the community at a Marine Corps League meeting... (he sent some 900+ comfort packages to Marines overseas with his own fundraising!!!)
When I sounded off ATTENTION TO ORDERS....
Every Marine in the hall snapped up so fast we had a few chairs fall over backwards!
This is when I need to say there were some 70 and 80 year old Marines there... 2 Bird Colonels (retired of course) and at least 2 ~90 year WWII vets!!!!

It was quite nice to award a 19 year for his Patriotism!!!
He raised over $17,000 and sent almost 1000 packages out!!!

That seems to my life's story, I'm always a day late and a dollar short.

dcyrilc,
Not quite a Southern thing but more a Western frontier thing. The cavalry stetson hat dates back to the 1830s and the general Custer era. In today's cavalry units, Soldiers earn the right to wear their stetsons (and spurs) by participating in what's called a spur ride. A spur ride consists of a major terrain walk between 20-30 km with map reading, team building exercises, weapons familaraztion, etc. I haven't been in a CAV unit since 2005 but I still take pride in wearing my CAV hat.

Looking closer at your avitar, I see it's just a blue T-shirt. At first glance it looked like the ole blue jacket and hat of the civil war era. With my screen res of 1280x1024 the pic is pretty small. "Course, my eye sight isn't quite what it used to be either. LOL

The CAV hat is great. Glad to see the pride still showing!

Most of the pride I still show from the Corps is carried in the colors which fly on the pole at the gate of my ranch/farm.

This is something I've wanted to do for years. Couldn't do it in the city, but now I'm in the country.....
My only problem is....I served in 3 different branches....3 flags??!

And, I think congrats are in order to gotrocks....

You could fly the national colors on a pole in the front yard with colors for each branch of service flown on masts on the house. That would keep costs down and still show a lot of pride!

Just remember to make sure that the pole is tall enough that the national colors are higher than the others. Should be lit if flown at night too.

mmmm, ham n eggs. mmmmmmm

Well, thanks MT but 'ole gotrocks was just too much for everyone. I vow not to mow for another year in the hope of another contest. Dang, I shouldn't had that ole wreck of a car towed. Now to collect scrap!

Sounds like another good project to add to the list! If only I had been in only 2 branches, I could have put up a shorter pole on each side of the Ensign, which would've looked great...1 branch, no brainer....
I am, however intrigued by your idea.....
next question.....storm, post, or garrison??
