Sounds like another good project to add to the list! If only I had been in only 2 branches, I could have put up a shorter pole on each side of the Ensign, which would've looked great...1 branch, no brainer....
I am, however intrigued by your idea.....
next question.....storm, post, or garrison??

All depends on what you're willing to spend. I have a 43 foot pole and usually fly an 8x12 flag. About $300 for the flag. The old one had to come down last fall due to age. With the tight budget this year I'm flying a 5x9. Doesn't look bad, but doesn't have the impact of the 8x12.

I've seen many yards with the pole in the yard and I have a neighbor up the street who has a nice setup for the Marine Corps Colors on the front of the house. I'll try to remember to drive by and get you a pic. I had the same idea as you that four poles would be too much, but the three on the front of the house might be a visually pleasant way of displaying them all. As for what to go with for a pole and size? Nothing has the visual impact of a garrison flag...
...'cept maybe that 200x300 Mexican flag down in Ensenada. Now that is an impressive flag! 350 or 400 foot pole! Mexicos Biggest Flag

Thanks Mark, now I guess I'll have to get to work cleaning up SOME of that mess.

Since we've all had "worst"; on our minds let me relate an old story my Daddy enjoyed telling.

Seem there was this old man that made daily visits to the general store.
When ever someone would relate a report of some catastrophe , train wreck, tornado, flood, murder..... anything along those lines, the old man would ALWAYS respond with "Could-a been worse!"

This went on for a long time. One day a group of young guys saw him coming and one said ;"watch this I'm gonna get that old goat today."
When the old man walked up onto the porch, the young guy said; " Old man last night I dreamed you died"; Old man :";Could-a been worse!"
Young guy; "That ain't all, I dreamed you went to HE11."
Old man :"Could-a been worse!"

Young guy;" I finally gotcha now you old goat, how could you dying and going to HE11 have possibly been WORSE?"
Old man;' 'Could have been so!"

Enough of that. Now "Where's the Beef?"; I mean the weed eater.:D

My only problem is....I served in 3 different branches....3 flags??"

scoutcub,
I agree with dcyrilc on this. To this day my dad flies the national colors, USMC (he served 61-65 and my brother was in 87-91), Airforce (my sister 89-92) and the Army (me 87-present) flags on four different poles in his front yard. And thanks to both of you for your service.

I was just trying to inject some humor into a great thread ole friend. :) :) :)

I love the comments about flying the flag. We fly our national flag EVERY day and I replace the flag whenever it gets tattered. It's something I am very proud of. I can't imagine an 8 x 12 flag! That would be amazing.

I am going to take some pics of my flag and post them so you can show what you have got.

Regards

Jim
