firearm attachment-is there such a thing?

Hmmm..you need a bigger gun than a 22 if it is druggies that are the problem...they might not even notice they were shot for awhile with a 22:cool:

There's no doubt that could happen, but you'd probably be surprised at the number of murders and suicides that are committed with a .22.

I pocket carry a .38 snubby most of the time...however, the seatbelt would impede quick access.

Me, too, with a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.

This is back to the age old issue.
Are you hunting, or do you need self defense?
IMHO,

hunting = rifle for accuracy and distance

defense = pocket carry pistol, 9mm for knock down power and availability because it is always with you in your pocket. Mine with holster conceals into every front pocket of every pair of jeans and slacks I already owned before I purchased it.

For the record...I'm a avid sportsman, hunter and firearm enthusiast...but I have never felt the need to carry in everyday life...I have no problem with those that do so...

But...just like you never hear of anyone dying or getting sick from not washing fruits and vegetables (from insecticides not micro-organisms)...you never hear about a civilian stopping a crime or saving a life because they were carrying a firearm...

You do hear a lot of stories about off duty police officers breaking up crimes etc...but never civilians...and there are a lot more civilians with carry permits out there walking around than there are off duty leo's...

You have obviously never read the American Rifleman (NRA publication). Each month they post the crimes that were prevented by civilians with firearms. Typically our media wont do much in this area.

Uh yeah right.. er.. no.. actually.. you CAN read about these stories if you want to.

I read a mag that publishes 9-12 'self defense' articles per month. most of them are simple 1-2 paragraph blurbs gleaned from the police blotter section of a newspaper.. but they all have one thing in common.. a gun owner used his/her gun to defend themselves, defend another.

Another mag I read also does this, and in fact has published an account I sent in. way back many years ago I had just left for work and had forgot my lunch and turned around and went home.. something felt funny about the house so i took my .44mag anaconda in with me. I find a 6'6" intruder hiding in a bedroom. I hold him there , call police, they come, and find ANOTHER 6' intruder hiding in the closet of that same bedroom. luckily I did not enter the bedroom but stayed at the entrance to stand guard.

at 5'5" and 135# at the time.. I'm sure the Colt Anaconda I had in my hand is what made that day turn out ok for me... I guess neither of them wanted to attack a small armed home owner with a 44 magnum in hand ???

ps that mag was combat handguner I can provide year / volume issue # for verification if you desire. Nra mags also have a section in their mags with these type of stories. they ARE out there, for those that want to read about them.

that was my point...you do not see them in the mainstream media...

most of the ones you do read are from store proprietors and many of them are "repeat defenders"

you do read about a lot of civilians that accidently shoot themselves or others with accidential discharges...

I used to carry a sig p-230 in .380.. but that is a medium / large framed gun. I now carry a keltec P3AT in .380 quite a nice pocket gun...

Actually there frequently are articles in the Texas newspapers about citizens who have killed, wounded or shot at home invaders or store employees who have killed, wounded or at least shot at a robber.

With the Castle Doctrine Law in Texas it's actually fairly frequent that you will see a story from somewhere in the state where a gun was lawfully used to stop a crime.

mainstream media? like a newspaper right?

nightly news? right?

as for accidental shootings. I think I have read about more LEO's shooting themselves than I have the average joe.

Repeat defenders? that sounds derogatory... how about repeat victoms?

florida is the same way.

I bet most of the states where the people actually have 'rights' to lawfully and vigorously defend themselves, you will see accounts of armed self defense. speaking of texas.. there ha ve some neat laws. a friend of mine used to live in a town that had an ordanance.. basically every household had to own a gun if allowed. breaking and entry crime statistics for that town were virtually 0 for the 4ys he lived there and kept track of it...
