florida is the same way.
I bet most of the states where the people actually have 'rights' to lawfully and vigorously defend themselves, you will see accounts of armed self defense. speaking of texas.. there ha ve some neat laws. a friend of mine used to live in a town that had an ordanance.. basically every household had to own a gun if allowed. breaking and entry crime statistics for that town were virtually 0 for the 4ys he lived there and kept track of it...

I was mowing in the worst part of Corpus Christi Texas 2 days ago. While mowing an old railroad track behind a auto shop. The mechanics were standing outside looking at me real funny, like they had never seen a tractor before. I was mowing on a incline back and forth behind their shop where the track use to be.
Now I was wearing jeans, long sleeve shirt and a straw cowboy hat. That dress is uncommon in that neighbor hood but not completely on the out skirts of town (this was inner city at its finest). So it had me wondering why they were looking at me so funny and for so long. I figured that they were admiring my cool cowboy hat and awesome tractor.
After getting done mowing I noticed that while mowing the incline my pistol and holster had been uncovered and my shirt was behind the pistol and it was exposed. I was on a JD 5103 open cab.
I now know why they were looking so funny at me. Its funny that no one called the police on a crazy guy in a cowboy hat mowing on a tractor in the hood with a pistol on his hip. :dance1: Out in the country one would expect it but not in the hood of CC Tx.
When I say I was in the worst part of Corpus Christi Texas, I am not lying. I am a Corpus Christi police officer and work the area I was mowing in. I am not proud of the fact that my pistol was showing, but in 100 degree heat and mowing on inclines and twisting and turning it happens.
I mowed about a 2.5 mile stretch and saw a drug deal (while with my 16 year old son, not fun) and two more drug deals being setup, 3 people I had arrested for different things numerous times, a bum peeing in the middle of the street and numerous different law violations and no one recognized me (I have been working that area vigorously for 3 years as a uniformed patrol officer) and no one cared about the guy on the tractor. I think I have found my new under cover vehicle.
