I have been reading alot of good info on this site so I decided to sign up. I do have my 1st ? for you guys.I am going to buy a land scape rake & I narrowed it down to the woods lr72 or the Fred Cain. My ? is witch one do think is bilt better? I know the woods has a good rep but the Fred Cain looks a little stouter than lr72. Thanks for any info good or bad.

Sorry can't offer anything on the rake as I am not familiar with Fred Cain.
As always the best one is a trade off on: capability vs need vs cost .
Then mix in a hole lot of opinion. It is a low service item so the dealer or seller shouldnt matter much unless you want to develope a relationship.

Fred cain is a name brand at least here in the south i have seen it. At everything attachemets he sells some fred cain stuff, i think the field cultivators are FC.

Fred Cain equipment is good equipment. We have sold it for almost 30 years. Used to be called "Thrifty" many years ago. Ken Sweet

The only replacement parts you might ever need will be the tines. Reasearch the replacement cost and the ease of replacement.
Do check the size, thickness and spacing of those tines on your two choices.
Do either of the rakes' tine bars reverse for finish work?

Probably the most common failure mode on a rake (not including the rake tines) is the frame supporting the rake tines, which can twist or bend. I recall one forum member posting pic's of the 5' long angle frame on his rake that he had twisted. So be sure to compare the frames with each other, the heavier, stronger looking frame might be the better choice, if the price is not out of line. Good luck!

:welcome: to TBN. I am a big Woods and Land Pride implement fan, but for landscape rakes I would prefer the Fred Cain rake just for the tubing.
