I installed a new hydraulic top link on my Kioti DK50 and definitely didn't like the way the hydraulic detent valve worked. I looked into how the valve was was mounted and how it worked. Watched the action of the valve and decided to dig in. Ended up removing the two detent balls out of the valve. Presto a normal operating hydraulic valve with no detent positions.:)

Wow, could you describe the steps (just basically). Sounds like something I might be really interested in.

I will try. On my detent valve that is mounted on the top of the transmission, there is a cap with a hex nut on it that has a allen set screw on the end of it. I backed out the set screw, then unscrewed the nut and two steel detent balls will come out. That is exactly what you want to happen. Reassemble the nut and set screw on valve. I don't know how a CK30 is compared to a DK50. All I had to do to access the valve was to remove the seat and base from the tractor and the detent valve was right in front of me.

Hey Kiotisooner, I think you have a newer detent system than i do, please advise. I am trying to get the detents to work!

On the rod that pokes out of the valve after getting the cap off, my rod has two or three TINY ball bearings embedded in the rod, spring loaded. You say your valve has ball bearings that just come/fall out?

I'm thinking of getting a new valve just to get the detents to work.

Thanks

MIke

Carefully remove the detent balls and spring and clean, and or replace damage or rusted parts, and lube everything.

thanks for the manual reference. as far as i can tell my kioti valve spring loaded balls are press fit in to the rod coming directly out of the hydraulics and cannot be removed without drilling them out as far as i can see.

if someone has removed them i am thinking they have a different, newer valve. this is reinforced by people saying their controls are almost TOO firm in their detents.

anybody familiar with a recent mfg valve would appreciate a description of the innards.

when I bought my rear remote kit 2 years ago, the guy took the balls out of the valve right on the parts counter. I can't remember exactly how it's done, but I remember it wasn't to difficult of a job, definitely no drilling involved.

wow, either different valve or perhaps i dropped them on the gravel and didn't know it, but i was pretty careful.

EDIT: For those who have looked inside, are there tiny spring loaded ball bearings on the rod in addition to some other ball bearings? Mine from about 4 yrs ago just has tiny spring loaded ball bearings in the rod coming out of the hydraulics. No other ball bearings.
