I went on the same search a few months ago...assembled here is about all you can hope for. One trip to Delhi, India or Shanghai, China will tell you why we can't compete...factories where employees get room and board plus 80 to 100 bucks a month, 40 of which they send home to the farm. I've seen these places with my own eyes.
Not to worry...politicians will tell you things you want to hear and tell you that it's ALL going to get better.
Start canning and raising chickens... no pun intended.

When we're all working at McDonalds, we won't be able to afford tractors anyway.

Let's not forget that "American Made" does not guarantee higher quality/value... and non-American Made does not always mean lesser quality/value.

Yup, in fact the worst tractor we ever had was made in America, a JD 4400, a complete and udder lack of R & D and poor quality control IMO.

Some of the best we've had were made overseas:

JD 2550, made in Mannheim Germany, engine made in Saran France, excellent tractor.

All of the Kubota's we've owned (B3200, M9540, ZD21) have been excellent.

My father also just purchased a JD 5045E (traded the 4400 for it), it was made in India, IIRC. Initial impressions of it are great.

I'm not anti-American in any way, but I know a good product when I see it, and lately I haven't seen much coming from here that I like (with relation to tractors and vehicles.)

Ask yourself this question and pretend you own a tractor building company, here are you choices.

1 - Have your product made my a foreign company and pay the employees $2.00 a DAY for 10 hours of work, or..............

2- Have your product made by American Union workers at $750.00 a day plus benefits, taxes, regulation up the wazoo, health and safety, workers comp, labor standards, harassment laws, labor law suits, forced health care, environmental laws and rules, air quality regulation, water regulations, insurance, power regulations, cap and trade, strikes, government inspections, fees, fees, fees, fees, and more fees..............what would you do?

See it's a simple decision isn't it. Now you know why nothing is made in the United States any more.

Delete from the first line, "own a tractor building company" and insert "want to buy a tractor"
Delete from point #1 and point #2 the same words "Have your".
I am not aiming this at you Cat Driver, this is for everyone. Granted, we don't have the option to buy an American made tractor but if we did, would you? If the price difference on a U.S. vs. offshore built tractor both of equal quality with say 40-50 hp would be around $10,000.00, which would you buy?
Say a similar pair of boots made here cost ten to twenty bucks more than a similar pair made overseas. Which would you buy? Where is your buying USA level of economic allegiance?

...Now you know why nothing is made in the United States any more.

A common misconception that couldn't be further from the truth. The United States is currently the top manufacturing country in the world. China is a close second and will likely pass us in the next few years, but even if they do, the US and China are so far ahead of everyone else the US will not drop out of the top two anytime soon.

It's a world economy now folks. Hardly anything is made in one country anymore. My Chevy truck has more imported parts than my wife's Honda I think. Does anyone have a Zenith TV? An American made cut? not anymore. unless they are antique. It'll never be the way it used to be. sad but true.

I believe there are still a couple of manufacturers left, albeit of large tractors! John Deere for one in Waterloo Gold Key Tours and I believe Case-New Holland have a plant for their large tractors in Fargo, North Dakota.

American made does not mean quality, Foreign companys make good tractors because they still believe in making a quality machine. American companies however are always looking to build them cheaper...cheaper metals, cheaper materials etc etc, Corporate greed has driven quality through the floor in America. Furthermore parts are made to fail so you can spend for money at the dealership. This is fact. Then on the otherside of the fence you have greedy unions sucking the life out of the companys which only push them to skimp on materials and quality even more. Ive been in the manufacturing business for 15 yrs, this is my take on what Ive seen.

I just posted the question because I remember when goods from Japan or China and elsewhere were a joke and junk...and goods manufactured in the US were valued highly around the world. When we went into WWII all of the manufacturing plants shifted to making tanks, jeeps, guns and war materials...with this global economy if we ever got into a major shooting match I wonder where we go to get our war machines made ?
