Why does BX2660 have 2.5hp more than BX25?

The poster didn't say the BX25 has 25 hp.

Read it again slowly. It was a longer post, and wandered a bit around the point, but anyhow.... BX25=22.5 hp BX2660=25 according to the poster.

Point being that the TLB has the slightly smaller engine.

Have been a Kubota fan for many years and owned a B1500E, G1800, BX2200 and loved them all. Now, will be in the market for a BX25 early next year. Even have my wife's OK!!! (Glory!)

Got to looking on the Kubota Corp website and noticed in the specs that the BX2660 has 2.5 more HP than the BX25? (25 hp vs. 22.5 hp)

Sent Kubota Corp the question last week and even asked if the BX2660 could be ordered with a backhoe. Received an email acknowledging the question, but still no answer from the correct department, whichever that is.

It puzzles me why the BX25 model doesn't have the highest HP for that line, being that it has a BH as standard equipment. It is kind of the flagship for the BX line, right?
2.5 HP out of 25 is 10%! Wow, that is a substantial amount of HP, to me anyway.

Any ideas or comments out there?

We wanted a BX2660, but when it came down for the backhoe we settled for the BX25. I don't see why they don't put the BX2660's engine in it vs the 2360's engine.

How much difference does that make in function between the two? I dunno. I'm pretty sure the 2660 makes you happier, more charming, and better looking. At least that's what the dealer wanted me to believe.:laughing:

The BX25 with the larger engine would command a higher price. It could make shambles of the pricing strategy of the whole market segment.
Doesn't need more Hp anyway.

I would be willing to bet Kubota decided to cater to us BX2200 owners who craved a little more hp, more comfort and a few extra features. After several years, many would want to trade up and with more manufacturers offering sub-CUT options, they had to find a way to stay in the lead.

I own both and the transition between the two is seamless but the 2660 is more of a pleasure for mowing.

JMHO, I doubt the extra couple HP would be missed by most doing everyday type activities. As another poster said, the most noticeable difference would probably be driving a PTO generator. I've noticed on my BX25 that in most situations, I run out of traction before I run out of power, so for the most part, I wouldn't notice the extra ponies.
