That's a nice looking hoe. I would really like to get something like that some day, if you don't mind me asking, what did it set you back? More then your TC45?

Actually, it was a bit less than my TC45D, but I bought the TC new and the backhoe used. Most backhoes around this age have an asking price of $30k or more. This hoe has some rough edges and the pins/bushings in the hoe are not as tight as I would prefer, but the engine and transmission seem solid. It also has no hydraulic leaks. The asking price at the dealership with a verbal guarantee to "make it ready to work" was $21.5k. He said he would come down if I took it as-is, but I didn't think that was wise. The latest problem with the leaking injector pump tells me I made the right decision to pay the asking price. If the injector pump can't be fixed, another one is $1700. They already replaced a front hub seal, a rear axle bearing and seal, changed engine oil and filter and air filter plus greasing and replacing any clogged zerks. They had it cleaned up spotless for me on delivery too. I'm very happy with the value of the backhoe.

That's a good price. Wow, and 4wd to boot. I'd love to have one some day but I think I will wait until I do a large room addition for my home. I'm sure it would come in handy digging all over the place. Are you going to use it all the time on your property or do you think you'll do some odd jobs for people making a little side cash? I know around here, that is what a lot of the farmers do to make a little extra money these days. Great looking hoe!

I don't have any plans for putting it to work. I'm in a very rural area with only a few neighbors. There's a small town within 2 miles driving distance, but beyond that, I have no means to transport the backhoe. I think I will keep it, use it, and then sell it. I need its size and brute force for a couple of projects and then a small backhoe on a compact tractor would be perfect. Truth is...I just don't know for sure. I'm retired and have a full toy box. Who could ask for more?:D

It's always good to have a full toy box... I'm not retired (not by a long shot) so I guess I'll have to keep saving to get a nice hoe... Or maybe I'll get lucky and find a good used one for my NH. :D

EDIT: I posted about the fuel leak in another thread. My LB75 had to go back to the dealer for a repair because it was leaking fuel. They picked it up last Monday.

I spoke with the dealership yesterday about my LB75 fuel leak. They have ordered a seal kit and will install it when it comes in. I expect to have it back early next week. I've attached an illustration of the pump with an arrow pointing to the manifold head where fuel was dripping at a rate of 1 drop per second.

Jim,

While they have it, ask them to blow out all your lines. Clean out your sediment bowl and if the filters are old, change them too.

Mine is a lot older then yours, 1998, and I'm sure that it's not an issue for you, but I had all sorts of small, tiny rocks in my line. They were probably realy pieces of rust, but they looked like tiny rocks when I finally figured out why I was loosing power. Sediment bowl was filled up, which is embarrasing to admit, but something that I overlooked in my maintenence routine. I cleaned out my hoses one at a time and found one to be almost full. It was all before the filter, and I the change was dramatic after doing this, so I'm thinking I'm ok. It's been a couple of years and I'm on top of it now.

Thanks Eddie. They already put in a new fuel filter and I can't find a sediment bowl separate from that filter. What I'm thrilled about is the fuel filter, engine oil filter, air filter and other engine components are so open and easily accessible on this tractor. I lift the loader up and lock the loader arm safety support in place and remove the large side covers for total access. I can even reach under the left side of the engine and remove the oil drain plug without having to crawl under the tractor.

That is a super nice rig Jim. You said it looked "worked hard". It looks pretty good to me. I hope to retire to a full toy box one day too.

Jim,

There is a sediment bowl on mine as part of the fuel pump. It's glass and you can look at it and see the fuel in there, all nice and clean. In time, it turnd dark and then gets nasty loooking. I never looked and let mine get full of junk.

My covers started to get loose, and opened just a bit towards the back, which allowed the engine heat to come out of them and shoot back to me, the oporator. I took my covers off, set them aside with plans to fix them one day, and haven't had them on in years now. I did the same with the dozer and really like the open access of not having panels at all.
