That's a nice looking hoe. I would really like to get something like that some day, if you don't mind me asking, what did it set you back? More then your TC45?
Actually, it was a bit less than my TC45D, but I bought the TC new and the backhoe used. Most backhoes around this age have an asking price of $30k or more. This hoe has some rough edges and the pins/bushings in the hoe are not as tight as I would prefer, but the engine and transmission seem solid. It also has no hydraulic leaks. The asking price at the dealership with a verbal guarantee to "make it ready to work" was $21.5k. He said he would come down if I took it as-is, but I didn't think that was wise. The latest problem with the leaking injector pump tells me I made the right decision to pay the asking price. If the injector pump can't be fixed, another one is $1700. They already replaced a front hub seal, a rear axle bearing and seal, changed engine oil and filter and air filter plus greasing and replacing any clogged zerks. They had it cleaned up spotless for me on delivery too. I'm very happy with the value of the backhoe.
Are you going to use it all the time on your property or do you think you'll do some odd jobs for people making a little side cash? I know around here, that is what a lot of the farmers do to make a little extra money these days.
I don't have any plans for putting it to work. I'm in a very rural area with only a few neighbors. There's a small town within 2 miles driving distance, but beyond that, I have no means to transport the backhoe. I think I will keep it, use it, and then sell it. I need its size and brute force for a couple of projects and then a small backhoe on a compact tractor would be perfect. Truth is...I just don't know for sure. I'm retired and have a full toy box. Who could ask for more?![]()
Jim,
While they have it, ask them to blow out all your lines. Clean out your sediment bowl and if the filters are old, change them too.
