The engines they are talking about with Kubota are lower HP 4cyls.
Kioti doesn't use a 4cyl until 41hp

All I can add is my DK45S doesn't have any vibration. I have driven alot of different farm tractors and I can say this much that my Kioti doesn't vibrate. We are very pleased.:)

from a mechanical standpoint, a 4 cyl needs a balancer and a 3 cyl does not. A short stroke 3 cyl should have the least vibration. (B2320 Kubota). Honestly in the field its hard to tell the difference from one to the next in terms of vibration.

I had a real bad vibration issue in my kioti when it was brand spanking new. it turns out that it had nothing to do with anything you would think, it was an air pressure issue with the filled rears. It caused alot of excessive vibration at road speed. After it was adjusted...no more issues 3 years and going.

This doesn't make sense to me, maybe I'm missing something but an inline 4-cylinder engine is naturally balanced since when 2 pistons are going up, the other 2 pistons are going down. Therefore the same amount of weight is going in opposite directions and balanced. In a 3 cylinder, when 1 piston is going up there are 2 going down so it's not naturally balanced and needs a counter weight or balancer. What am I missing?

This doesn't make sense to me,

I cannot recall the explanation but believe Neal's response is correct. The three cylinder engines are naturally dynamically balanced as are the straight six and V12.

A three cylinders' firing impulses are 120* apart; a fours' are 90* apart. Draw a schematic of a circle with 3 lines radiating from the center point 120* apart and another 4 lines 90* apart. The answer is right in front of you ;) It has more to do with the firing impulses than the rotating mass

Exactly..
Anybody remember the old ODD-FIRE and EVEN-FIRE Buick V-6 engines??? What a mess!!

3 cyl isn't inherently balanced, but inline 4's are one of the worst. Boxer 4's are inherently balanced.
