Old Fuel Tank ... Restore it?

I have cleaned a few out using a sears shop vac after I blow compressed air in with a wand extension. Banged it ariound a bit to loosen stuff up and vacumn out the best you can. I then put a little diesel in and slosh around and rinse out. If they had diesel in them I useally don't find all that much rust, just fine crap.
I always use a debris and water filter on my diesel fuel tank--two filters.

Sounds like you have a home heating oil tank which might be thinner steel so more likely to have some problem.
The pressurized air idea is brilliant.

I think that may be the way to go. Not to bad compared to the price of a new tank .... was wondering if it had any pin holes or leaks and looks like this product may resolve both. Sure would be a S.O.B. if I filled it and it leaked out!!!

1--You are 100% correct, but with tens of thousands of $$ of my hard-earned equipment at stake, I feel better with an extra $20 of fillter.
2--On the tank, maybe modern home heating oil rectangular tanks are the same thickness these days, but I have seen many older ones that were noticably thinner than an outdoor diesel tank. Beats me, maybe some were indoor fuel tanks? .

Diesel fuel tanks out my way sell pretty cheap. $50 is common, $100 high and $30 cheap. Seems like sealing one is a lot to go through for an uncertain destiny?
