his price quoted is in line with what I see here.. ie.. about 1000$ for an ip ..
bout the only way to get a cheaper one is to get one off a salvage tractor and cross yer fingers that it's in better condition.
perhaps some places might offer a 'checked' salvage unit for a lil less than a rebuilt one.

And just so you know, the Simms pump requires oil inside. Is not fed with engine oil like many engines.
There is a fill, level and drain plug, so when you get your new pump, make sure you fill it with oil and keep it that way. I've even changed the oil in my Simms pump several times over the years.
