I still remember the good old days when I could to climb into the engine compartment of my 79 Chevy while changing the plugs.

My truck is STILL that way. My little 06 Dodge with the Cummins is a dead simple design. One single fixed displacement turbo, no regen crap..etc.. Just change the oil and filter and go..

GM has a winner with the Isuzu Dmax and Allison tranny. They could not build there own diesel period. If you remember correctly the Dmax went through lots of teething pain just like the Ford 6.0 did.

Was it so much teething pain they dumped the whole engine like Ford did the 6L and then the 6.4L?

10 yrs same basic Dmax design compared to Fords last 3 diesels......Looks like the 4th built by Ford themselves won't fare much better.

Keep it coming. :thumbsup::laughing:

Having a IFS in a 3/4 ton and up is just a mistake. 1/2 tons it great but put a Boss V plow on a 3/3 ton GM and you are asking for problems while a Dodge and Ford with its solid front axle has no issues.

Like I said, I've owned 12 different Ford 3/4 & 1 ton trucks used for commercial snowplowing from 1989-2002. ALL of them had front axle & front suspension issues. Everything from ball joints to locking hubs, tie rods, steering boxes and especially brakes. Ford front ends eventually fall apart just like any other brands if you plow. 1/2 the reason I got away from using Ford trucks for plowing was because I spent so much money fixing them. I switched to backhoes, skid steers & farm tractors and have been happier.

I'll put my Ford front end experience up against your's any day, any where. Way more experience. You're out of your league here.

If it's properly designed, speced & rated an IFS front suspension is just as capable and rugged as an SFA suspension and could handle a plow just as well. If IFS wasn't as rugged, the HUMVEE would have SFA. You also get the benefits of not having hot coffee thrown all over you when you hit rough roads.

Nice thing about IFS I have learned through experience of owning both types of trucks is when the plow is not connected to the truck, which is probably 97% of the time for most owners, it's ride & handling is vastly superior.

That's interesting. My family has owned body shops for over 50 years. Do yourself a favor; look up the value of a GM pickup from '69 through '73. Then look up the value of a GM pickup from '74 through the mid 80's. I believe you'll see that the facts point out what you are proclaiming is quite a stretch to put it mildly.

Don't let "I live and die by GM 'Builder'" laugh at you as his pawn. I call it as I see it and always have. In case you had an issue reading part of what I posted, my family bought nothing but GM products until their quality simply dropped to almost nothing. I'm stating facts; not brand bashing. If you're in love with one particular manufacturer like "Blider", I'm sorry for your luck. ;) The rest of us base products on "what have you done for us lately". GM has ruined the lives of millions and called the money they stole "profit". I suppose it's all prospective. I call it theft by government assistance.

By all means, buy all GM products and buy all GM stock since you're so sure of their superiority. It affects me zero. I personally couldn't possibly care less what you feel is getting "stale". I feel you are selectively cheerleading GM with your best buddy Blider. I can't help your thin skin syndrome you share with him. If someone doesn't rave about what you prefer, you're all upset. What a boring world that would be. I already know I can learn absolutely nothing from "Blider". As a single minded person there is nothing new posted by him. That's what "ignore" is for. If you don't like hearing what is all over the news, feel free and please "ignore" me. I don't know what I can tell you about the current news though. Maybe don't watch GM stock prices?

Me thin skinned?..Read your posts again. I have no issues with anyones truck preference. My family has every brand out there and they all have their advantages and disadvantages. I am not a GM cheerleader, and never have been. A defender against absurd attack, yes. Cheerleader? no. There's a rather big difference.

I said nowhere in any of my posts that one brand or year was more valuable than another..Where'd that come from?

Given that you claim to have every piece of top of the line construction equipment, the best most expensive pickups, and a climate controlled stable of vinage cars...I would guess whatever GM did to couldn't have hurt that bad. Or am I missing something here?

You will also notice that Diamondpilot and I could not differ more on trucks...We can still have a very civil conversation about this without name calling. In fact, he, and others have been giving me very helpful information on selecting a new truck. That's what TBN is about. Not this.

I dare you to find ANYWHERE on TBN where I have said anything negative about any brand of anything...Good luck, cause it ain't gonna happen. I don't get a kick out of bashing other peoples stuff and pumping my own ego in the process.

I'm brand loyal. I just can't afford my brand and model. Too bad International stopped making the CXT, now that was a truck.

"You obviously loath/hate GM...I think we all get that by now. Your selective outrage is getting stale. Haven't you picked up on that yet? So you got burnt by GM in some way. many others have been run over by corporate failures too." By timswi 11/25/10

Pompous, rude and responded to in kind. If you can't take it, I suggest you don't dish it out. Apparently not enough people were forced out of their homes, lost their life's savings and lost their jobs for you. I have a word for people who brush off other people's disasters when it doesn't effect them, but I won't use it here. Most people here actually have a conscious and care about their fellow human beings.

I have nothing to do with companies or people who dump on others and figure it was just tough luck as they go on about their life. Just a guess, but I'd bet I donated more time and money to disadvantaged people and people hit by hard times this last year than you. If you didn't know why I don't care for companies and people with attitudes like yours, you should know now.

I'm not brand loyal since I special order everything, and I have to pick from whom ever makes what I want. I like the CTX too. You'll notice another member must like it also since it serves as his avatar.

I never said or implied any of that. Geez. I was referring to your comments, and yours alone.

Pompus and rude? Where have I ever been either?

This thread is a lost cause.

I don't see where timswi is guilty of brand bashing here, and I don't see where your arguments are anything but rude. And frankly, I agree, it's getting rather stale!
