I was unable to find info on a hydraulic screen in searches for the RTV 900...somebody with an owner's manual should be able to help you out. Mine is a 500 and I'm not confident we have the same transmission.



Here is some help maintenance info, it probably won't help you with this particular problem but if you don't have a manual it could come in handy down the road.

Yes, i have googled it over and over and a hundred different ways. I went out there and took bed off so i could get to stuff but i didnt see anything that looked like it had a screen/filter

Do you know if your transmission is a VHT Plus? I have the factory service manual for my 500 I just didn't want to give you the info out of that if it's not accurate because it would just make it more confusing.

How would i know? Its a 2006 model i belive. But im pretty sure its vht

The service manual for the 500 lists 5 possible problems leading to the machine not moving in either direction

1) Oil level low
2)Control linkage or cable defective
3) Charge pressure too low

3.1 Replace oil cartridge
3.2 Check charge pressure
3.3 Inspect of flush charge relief valve
4) Check and high pressure relieve valve does not move smoothly
4.1 Inspect or replace check and high pressure relieve valve
5) Component parts defective
5.1 Replace transmission assembly


Given that you have some movement I would assume a relief valve problem to be the most likely.

Where might this valve be around this mess? I cant get it into reverse at all now. It will go into low but feel like its hung up, like its in reverse and low at the same time...
