Snow It's Snow Time???

I'll try and explain setup first..and then post a photo too. anyway..if you are standing at the rear of the mower looking forward.....that belt will run straight back from the front of the blower to the very back pto pulley, and then return back towards the front around the two idler pulleys.

Don't be afraid to USE the blower...that belt will take alot of punishment...I do always keep a spare hanging in my garage

Also. you DO NOT need to drop $38 for an MTD belt...when you get a chance take the belt off and take it to your local large autoparts store..have them match it up (they have a tool to measure length) and you can get MANY automotive belts that are the same length. You'll spend less than $15 per belt. It's what I do.

Photo of belt setup coming shortly

How often do you go through that belt? and thank you.

I've had the same belt on for 2 seasons now..but like I said, I ALWAYS keep a spare hanging in the garage, just in case. But last years belt..looked great, after inspecting it before installing it this season.

Here's the photo on how to route the bottom belt.
this is looking at the plate from below..when installed on your Cub..the bottom of this photo will be your RIGHT side and that upper outrigger pulley will be on your left of the tractor.

THis is just a hose to show you how to route the belt, not the actually belt.

Thanks Dan. That helps me to feel a little better knowing that I have it routed the correct way. Just weird that your spring goes under the belt, and not over it as that is how mine is.

Also is the belt really taught when it is on before you put the Idler pulley on it? I had to really force the pulley in to place as the belt was really tight

I guess it depends on the strength of the person manipulating the belt..so it's hard to say....my belt seems pretty easy to put on ..but yes it's still pretty taught.....it's all just relative I think. it shouldn't be loose or wobbly..as long as it's nice and tight you should be good.

Oh no. I had to use a Socket driver with a Breaker bar just to bring it over enough to get the spring on. Im about 250ish soak in wet so Im not no small guy, so I have to say this belt took some force to get on there. Im just thinking that it was due to it was new and needed to break in.

I am sure it's because it's a new belt. Also..the way I do it is run the belt through the pulleys with the spring unhooked....then I grab the hook end of the spring with a needle nose pliers and pull it over and hook it onto the bolt it attaches too...that way I don't ever have to struggle with the belt..just an easy straight pull of the spring to connect it.

Dan. Thank you. I hooked the Idler pully up and all went well. 7" of snow was nothing for this thing. What took me 30 to 45 mins with the plow blade only took me 10 mins. And I got paid by my neighbor to do their drive way for the rest of the year. Easy 200$. Thanks man.

hey boys, i got a question for ya. i purchased a 190-032 used, once - off of an LT1042. i am mounting it on my GT1554. i replaced his 0498 belt with the 0371 and the undercarriage is running beautifully. i don't have the lower belt (tomorrow 0730 at TRACTOR SUPPLY) but i mounted the auger assembly just now. everything hooks up just perfect - EXCEPT ONE **** THING! the left support tube. that thing won't get anywhere near the undercarriage assembly hole - THE UNDERCARRIAGE IDLER PULLEY IS TOTALLY IN THE WAY!!! unless the tube is mounted upside down, or backwards, or something crazy (and it's not) the thing is just not designed to work with what i have. do any of you have a GT1554 with the 190-032? same issue? do i need different tube? am i missing something obvious? and dude, can i run this thing without that **** BAR hooked up!?!?!
