Ugg. I broke another belt. I know that I am doing something wrong but I have no clue. Bout ready to put the snowblower on ebay and go back to the plow. I never had this issue with my old ford lawn tractor and snowblower. Why does Cub seem to think that this 1 needs to break the belt when there is a load put on it. less then 1 month and on my 3rd belt.

Well After dealing with the belt issue all winter long I will say this.

I took the posters advice above, and went to the local Auto store and bought a belt that will fit the snow blower as opposed to the 30+$ belt from MTD. Yea, that auto belt worked wonders. I had no more belt breaking, and the snow blower actually made it through the rest of the winter here in Buffalo with no other issues. It seems that MTD makes their belts break at a lot lower amount of stress then a normal belt. Heck with the auto belt I actually broke a sheer pin and not the belt. (Plow truck Dug up a piece of road that I hit with out knowing) This is the kind of performance that I expect. I would rather buy a 5$ sheer pin, then a 30+$ belt any day of the week.

So ANYONE that gets this snow blower, get an after market belt from the local autoparts store. It is well worth it.

WOW...can't believe this was over 3 years ago, and I am just looking at it again. Yep, like I said forget the MTD belts, and get Auto belts...they work every bit as good and last much longer. I am on season number 3 now with the same exact belt.

Agree on the aftermarket belts. Tractor supply store has Kevlar belts for 9 bucks that perform very well. When yours breaks, measure it and go to TSC.
